6 terrorist associates arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar | Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested six terrorist associates of banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Sopore and Bandipora in North Kashmir.

Officials gave this information on Saturday. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition have been recovered from their possession.

A police officer said, during checking, it was noticed that three persons coming from Gond Brath village towards Bomai village were moving under suspicious circumstances, after which they were asked to stop, but they tried to run away. However, alert security forces caught him.

The arrested people have been identified as Arafat Majeed Dar, Tauseef Ahmed Dar and Momin Nazir Khan.

Incriminating material, arms and ammunition, two pistols, two pistol magazines, 13 pistol rounds and one hand grenade were recovered from them. They have been arrested and sent to the police station, where they are currently in custody.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested terrorist associates were providing logistics and other material assistance to the terrorists, police said. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Bomai Police Station and further investigation is on.

Meanwhile, the police in Bandipora have arrested three terrorist associates of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba after receiving specific inputs about the activities of terrorist associates in Bandipora city and its adjoining areas.

They have been identified as Mohammad, Irshad Hussain and Aashiq Hussain. Incriminating material, arms and ammunition have been recovered from them.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that these terrorist associates were working to expand terrorist activities of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, specifically providing material aid including mobile phones and SIM cards to foreign terrorists, the police said. By providing they were helping them. One of the arrested persons is a former terrorist and his anti-national activities have been witnessed many times in the past. Further investigation is on.
