Major accident near Humayun’s Tomb, many people trapped under debris as room wall collapses

New Delhi: A major accident took place at Humayun’s Tomb in Nizamuddin, Delhi on Friday. Part of the ceiling and wall of a room of Dargah Sharif Patte Shah behind Humayun’s Tomb suddenly collapsed, due to which many people are reported to be trapped in the debris. Relief and rescue operations are going on at the spot.

The local Delhi Police got information about the incident at 3.55 pm. The station in-charge and policemen rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. After some time, fire brigade vehicles also reached the spot and later the NDRF joined the rescue work.

So far a total of 10-12 people have been rescued from the debris. They were sent to various hospitals through ambulances. Relief and rescue operations are still going on. Debris is being removed from the spot. Built in the mid-16th century, the tomb is quite popular among tourists.

An eyewitness said that the incident took place behind Humayun’s tomb at around 3 pm. As soon as we heard the sound of the wall falling, we rushed to the spot and immediately called the administration. Locals helped the administration and the people trapped in the debris were pulled out, after which they were admitted to the hospital.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj posted on social media platform ‘X’ that many people have been injured due to the collapse of a part of the Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi. Some people have also died. Our councilor Sarika Chaudhary is on the spot and is trying to help in every possible way.
