Radhika Apte on the notion of on-set conflicts: ‘Men, not women, are more insecure’

Mumbai:. Actress Radhika Apte will be seen alongside actress Keerthy Suresh in the upcoming web series ‘Akka’. In a conversation with IANS, the actress dismissed the long-standing notion that women on film sets are prone to frequent arguments or conflicts.

The actress believes that the workplace environment depends not on gender, but on the rapport between individuals. She stated, “The idea that women fight among themselves is a very outdated notion. In fact, I believe men are far more insecure than women. Honestly, it’s not about being a man or a woman; it’s about personal chemistry. You simply click with some people, and with others, you don’t.”

Reflecting on her experience on set, Radhika Apte described the atmosphere as positive, highlighting the significant presence of women both in front of and behind the camera. “Our set was truly wonderful. There was a near-equal balance of men and women—both in the cast and within the crew working behind the scenes. There was a strong sense of ‘sisterhood,’ which made the entire experience much more comfortable,” she shared.

Radhika clarified that getting along with colleagues doesn’t necessarily mean becoming close friends with everyone, regardless of their gender. She noted that it is entirely possible to maintain a positive, professional relationship with others, even without a close personal bond.

As for the web series ‘Akka’, it is a gangster-themed story centered on female leads. The show marks the directorial debut of Dharmaraj Shetty, who also penned the series. Set in the 1980s, *Akka* takes place in a fictional world that has been built, run, and preserved by women for generations. The series will begin streaming on Netflix on October 30.
