AAP’s Punjab CM face will be from the Sikh community: Kejriwal

New Delhi| The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday announced that the party will contest all the assembly elections in Punjab and if voted to power, a person from the Sikh community will be the chief ministerial candidate.

AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement after visiting Chandigarh on Monday.

Kejriwal said, “I assure you that if AAP gets a majority in the Punjab assembly elections, the chief minister will be from the Sikh community.”

Kejriwal, however, did not name the chief minister’s face in Punjab.

Meanwhile, former Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Kunwar Vijay Pratap joined AAP in Amritsar in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal.

Welcoming Kunwar Vijay Pratap in AAP, Kejriwal said, “Pratap has been serving the people of Punjab and he is a popular face in the state. ”

He said, ‘He is not a political background. He wants to serve the people of Punjab and that’s why he has decided to join

AAP .” Throwing light on other developments, he said that the people of Punjab now need a change.

“The people of Punjab are fed up with the two parties ruling here for the last 70 years and they now want change. They have taken AAP as the best option in the state. I will appeal to the people of Punjab to support AAP in the next assembly elections and you will get development like Delhi. You have given many opportunities to Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), but they did nothing except corruption. Give you a chance and you will see a change in Punjab within five years.
