Apple prepares to expand mmWave iPhone 13 model

San Francisco | Tech giant Apple is listing additional suppliers of mmWave antennas for the iPhone 13. 5G mm wave technology debuted in the iPhone 12, and compared to the traditional sub-6 GHz, the wave offers much faster speeds but is limited in distance.

MacRumor noted that currently, the mmWave iPhone 12 models are only available in the US, but Apple is planning a major expansion of the mmWave iPhones to more countries around the world.

There has been an increase in adoption of mmWave technology in cities; however, with the iPhone 13 expanding the technology to more customers, it could lead to faster adoption of the Wave infrastructure.

DigiTimes reports that Apple is planning to increase the proportion of 5G mmWave iPhones to 60 percent of its 2021 iPhone lineup, with shipments reaching 90 million units.

Sources said Apple expects to increase the proportion of 5G mm wave devices in its new iPhone lineup to 60 percent in 2021. He estimates the number of such models to reach 90 million units.

The iPhone 13 is expected to be announced between September and October.
