Ashok Lavasa appointed as Vice President of Asian Development Bank

NEW DELHI:The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Election Commissioner of India Ashok Lavasa as the Deputy Chairman for Private Sector Operations and Public-Private Partnerships.

He will replace Diwakar Gupta, whose term ends on 31 August.

An ADB statement said that Lavasa – whose tenure with the election body was scheduled to expire in October 2022, has a long and illustrious career in the Indian Civil Service.

Lavasa has previously held several senior positions, including Finance Secretary, Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Secretary of Civil Aviation.

The statement further added, “He has extensive experience in public-private partnerships and infrastructure development at the state and federal levels, with deep knowledge in public policy and the role of the private sector.”
