Hindu College, a premier institution affiliated with the University of Delhi, continues to set benchmarks in higher education by fostering academic excellence and skill development. As part of its commitment to the holistic growth of students, the college recently hosted over 90 school principals from institutions affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The visit aimed to introduce them to vocational (skill-based) education in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

This pioneering initiative was designed to raise awareness about various skill development opportunities available to students, ensuring they are better prepared for real-world challenges and career opportunities. The NEP 2020 emphasizes integrating vocational training into mainstream education, enabling students to gain practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge. Hindu College, through its structured programs and facilities, is taking proactive steps to make this vision a reality.

During the visit, school principals had the opportunity to explore the college’s Skill Development Centre, which helps in equipping students with industry-relevant competencies. They also visited Fragrances and flavours laboratory, Polymer Laboratory, Material Characterization Laboratory, e-waste reuse and recycle laboratory, design and innovation laboratory and academia industry collaboration strategy laboratory. They also visited Multimedia studio. The college also highlighted its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These efforts reflect Hindu College’s broader vision of education as a tool for societal transformation.

Delhi: Hindu College marked its 126th Founder’s Day with a grand celebration, paying tribute to Late Krishna Dass Gurwale and its rich legacy of contributions to academia and society. The event was graced by Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Government of India, as the Chief Guest, alongside Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, as the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the students, the Chief Guest, Dharmendra Pradhan, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all stakeholders on this momentous occasion. He lauded the college’s pioneering skill training program in fragrance formulation for wellness products, which has empowered 30 internally displaced women from Manipur, fostering economic development and social stability. President Droupadi Murmu praised the Indian Diaspora on Friday, January 10, 2025, during the closing ceremony of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. She presented the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award to 27 distinguished individuals, acknowledging their contributions to various fields.

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu graces the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention at Bhubaneswar, in Odisha on January 10, 2025.

“The Indian Diaspora represents the best of our country,” she said. “They have carried not just knowledge and skills but also the values and ethos that define our civilization. Their achievements in technology, medicine, arts, and entrepreneurship have earned global respect.”

Among the awardees was Trinidad and Tobago President Christine Kangaloo, honored for her leadership and focus on women and the Indian community. Other recipients included:

  • Dr. Marialena Joan Fernandes (Austria): Education
  • Dr. Philomena Ann Mohini Harris (Barbados): Medical science

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, celebrating India’s global diaspora. The event, themed “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” brought together participants from over 50 countries.

PM Modi lauded Grammy-winner Ricky Kej for his musical tribute to the diaspora and thanked Chief Guest Christine Carla Kangaloo, President of Trinidad & Tobago, for her message on India’s progress. He highlighted India’s heritage, citing Odisha’s historic sites like the Konark Sun Temple, Udayagiri caves, and Bali Yatra, which celebrates ancient maritime trade.


The PM emphasized India’s rapid development, including its rise as the world’s 5th largest economy, advancements in technology, and global recognition of Indian talent. He urged the diaspora to promote “Made in India” products and India’s rich heritage, while contributing to India’s growth through initiatives like skilling programs and heritage tourism.

New Delhi: Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation, Govt. of India, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated `Sushma Bhavan’ – Working Women Hostel, Laxmi Bai Nagar, New Delhi, and also virtually inaugurated Veterinary Centre – Modern Animal Care Facility, Moti Bagh, New Delhi at Sushma Bhawan, Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg, New Delhi today.

To mark the inauguration of Sushma Bhawan – working women hostel, Shri Amit Shah handed over the keys of hostel rooms to three new inhabitants.

On the occasion, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Delhi Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, Member of Parliament, Ms Bansuri Swaraj, Chairman NDMC, Shri Keshav Chandra, Vice Chairman, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Members Shri Anil Valmiki, Smt. Sarita Tomar & Shri Dinesh Pratap Singh along with Secretary Shri Tariq Thomas, Head of Departments, Senior officers and employees of NDMC were present.

In his address, Shri Amit Shah highlighted that the sisters living in this building, named after Sushma Ji, are associated with a leader who has always been an inspiration for women’s empowerment, awareness, and struggle in India. He said that her legacy as a determined opposition leader who exposed corruption and scams worth Rs. 12 lakh crores during the tenure of the previous government.

Shri Shah noted that Sushma ji exemplified the critical role of the Leader of Opposition in a democracy and ignited a nationwide movement for women empowerment. He said all opposition leaders should learn from Sushma Ji’s working style. As the Minister of External Affairs in Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s government, she set a remarkable example by addressing people’s concerns with compassion and efficiency, leaving an indelible mark on Indian diplomacy.

Union Home Minister stated that the NDMC has provided safe accommodation for approximately 500 working women through the construction of Sushma Bhawan. He said that the inauguration of this building is a significant step in highlighting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for urban development. He said that since assuming office in 2014, PM Modi has laid a strong policy foundation for transforming India’s urban landscape. Shri Shah noted that PM Modi stressed the importance of global-standard facilities and included them as a central element of the urban development policy. Prime Minister Modi ji also addressed a significant policy gap by incorporating peri-urban villages—previously overlooked—into the urban development strategy, which has substantially reshaped cities over the past decade. The Home Minister also highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s focus on e-governance, exemplified by the Smart Cities Mission, where 100 cities were identified for development using a data-driven approach. He added that this innovative methodology has not only ensured equitable growth across cities but also facilitated development with a forward-looking perspective.

Shri Amit Shah highlighted the Modi government’s significant strides in urban security by establishing Integrated Command and Control Centres in many cities, connecting a comprehensive CCTV network to these hubs. He noted that in the future, these cameras will be utilized for multipurpose schemes powered by artificial intelligence. Shri Shah also mentioned several transformative initiatives launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, including the AMRUT Yojana, the expansion of metro networks to over 1,000 km, the promotion of electric vehicles, and the PM Surya Ghar Yojana for sustainable solar energy. He emphasized that cleanliness and environmental conservation were made integral to urban development policy, leading to initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Urban Waste Management Policy, Green Energy projects, and the Solar Rooftop Project. Shri Shah added that for the first time in 75 years of independence, Prime Minister Modi ensured a dignified livelihood for street vendors by providing them designated spaces and access to loans through the PM SVANidhi Yojana, empowering them to lead respectable lives.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that the Modi government empowered youth struggling with job-related frustrations by connecting them to self-employment opportunities through the Skill India Mission. He noted that initiatives like the Swachhata ranking competition and the Climate Smart City Framework fostered healthy competition among cities, driving them toward higher standards of development. Shri Amit Shah emphasized that by integrating various aspects of urban development policy, the government has made it result-oriented, creating a comprehensive roadmap to address future needs with a long-term vision. This forward-looking approach aims to position Indian cities among the world’s leading global cities.

Union Home Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, infrastructure projects worth ₹68,000 crores have been executed for the development of Delhi over the past 10 years. The Modi government has invested ₹41,000 crores in road development, ₹15,000 crores in railway-related projects, and ₹12,000 crores to enhance services at the airport and its surroundings. He said that ₹8,000 crores were spent on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and now, one can reach Meerut from Delhi in 45 minutes. A high-speed corridor is being built to complete the 24-hour journey from Delhi to Mumbai in 12 hours; Dwarka Expressway has been built at a cost of ₹7,500 crores, Eastern Peripheral Expressway at a cost of ₹11,000 crores, Urban Extension Road at a cost of ₹7,715 crores, Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor at a cost of ₹920 crores and Delhi-Meerut RRTS Rail Corridor has been built at a cost of ₹30,000 crores.
He said that a 7000-seat convention center and a 3000-seat amphitheater were built in Bharat Mandapam. Yashobhoomi Convention Center at a cost of ₹5400 crore, Dwarka Golf Course at a cost of ₹250 crore and Dwarka Sports Complex built at a cost of ₹92 crore. He said a scheme to give ownership rights to 40 lakh poor people by starting the process of regularizing 1731 colonies under PM-Uday Yojana, a scheme to give flats to slum dwellers, 29 thousand houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban and 3000 EWS flats were built at a cost of about ₹354 crore. New Veer Savarkar College in Delhi University, Prime Minister Museum, Police Memorial, National War Memorial, development of India International Convention Center and Expo Center, Oxygen Park and many green initiatives have also been taken.

Shri Amit Shah, referring to the allegations regarding the construction of a Sheesh Mahal in Delhi on 50,000 square yards at a cost of ₹45 crores, stated that the people of the capital are demanding accountability for this expenditure. He remarked that despite having the opportunity to focus on the development of Delhi’s infrastructure over 10 years, the focus was shifted to constructing a Sheesh Mahal instead of prioritizing development.
In his address, LG-Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena expressed his gratitude towards Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah for inaugurating this newly constructed working women’s hostel which is named after India’s great political personality, former Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Late Smt. Sushma Swaraj. He stated that this hostel will provide safe accommodation and fear-free environment to women coming to Delhi for work.

Shri Saxena further added that this is indeed a significant step towards women empowerment for which NDMC deserves to be congratulated. In this Sushma Bhawan, 39 well-furnished rooms have been built in a three-storey building, which are equipped with AC and Lift facilities where 78 working women will be able to get housing facility in this complex. He also said that it is a step towards the fulfilling the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister for women empowerment and safety.

In her address, Ms Bansuri Swaraj said that this is truly a symbol of independent women and women safety. She said that there was a provision in the union budget for making working women hostel and this is step which shows the commitment of the govt. towards women empowerment.

In his welcome address, Chairman NDMC, Shri Keshav Chandra said that this is an unforgettable moment for all of us that a new chapter has been added in the series of working women hostels of NDMC in the name of Sushma Bhawan.
We all are grateful to the Hon’ble Home Minister for giving us this auspicious opportunity. He said that the residents of Sushma Bhawan will have easy access to the Metro connectivity as well as the facilities of swimming pool and open gym in the nearby complexes of NDMC.

Vice Chairman, NDMC Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal in his vote of thanks on behalf of NDMC, said that the great warrior against the terrorism in India – Shri Amit Shah always inspire the NDMC team for development work. He also thanked Shri Shah for regularization of 4400 employees in NDMC from RMR to permanent employees. He also appreciated the better guidance of LG Delhi Shri VK Saxena. Shri Chahal also thanked Ms. Bansuri Swaraj for her active role in Council Meetings.

Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah also virtually inaugurated Veterinary Centre – Modern Animal Care Facility, Moti Bagh. The building has facilities of air conditioned consultation rooms, OPD section, surgery section and waiting area. Soon ultrasound, digital X-ray, Diagnostic laboratory and ECG services will be launched to provide accurate and comprehensive diagnostics to the animals and birds. With a dedicated team of experienced veterinarians and support system best care will be provided in this upgraded facility. The building consisting of Ground + Two Stories has been constructed in a plot of 420 sq.m having 140.95 sq.m covered area in each floor.

New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) organized an Art Festival -Artathon on the theme of various Mantras mentioned in the book “Exam Warriors” written by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for NDMC school 4000 students to help them deal with the stress of examination at Shanti Path Lawn, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi today.

The Artathon event was inaugurated by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railway, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India in the presence of Member of Parliament, Ms Bansuri Swaraj, NDMC Chairperson – Shri, Keshav Chandra, Vice-Chairman – Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Member of the Council Smt. Sarita Tomar and Dinesh Pratap Singh and other senior officers, school teachers.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw exhorted the students who participated in the Art event and said that if every work or exam of life is taken as passion then no worry and tension or stress arises in the way of success. He suggested to all students that every exam of life should be handled with passion. Earlier, he also interacted with the students and asked them questions related to the theme of paintings.

MP New Delhi, Ms Bansuri Swaraj said in the routine day life art is a form of better stress buster in every individual. She suggested to the students that they should consider examination as a joyful event of life with enthusiasm to achieve success. She further said that art is spread in our surroundings in the shape of nature and we can take inspiration from the nature if we are continuously in touch with it.

On the occasion, Chairman, NDMC Shri Keshav Chandra appreciated the organization of this unique event for the students as it will prepare them as a Exam Warrior. The Art event spreads the message of our Hon’ble Prime Minister to all the students and it also relieves the stress of the examination, he added.

He stressed upon the organization of such a type of programme with the active participation of students. He specially thanked NDMC team to organize this event with better coordination and full enthusiasm.

Vice-Chairman, NDMC Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal explained the motive of organization of the Artathon for the students and said that the book written by Hon’ble PM Shri Narender Modi Ji including all the Mantras mentioned in the book is a manual of all success in examination by focusing and concentration in study. He motivated the students to prepare for their examination without any stress or worry and gave best wishes for all successes. He further said that every success of step by step we will one day achieve the target of Viksit Bharat as per the vision of our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

Member NDMC, Shri Dinesh Pratap Singh presented the vote of thanks and appreciated the team NDMC for organization of such events for the students as it motivates them to achieve success in exam.

On the occasion, students and dignitaries planted saplings, each labeled with Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, emphasizing PM Modi’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). Chairman and Vice Chairman distributed the saplings with QR codes among the students.

A short film about the message of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi was also screened for the students. A yoga session on stress management was conducted by yoga gurus from Morarji Desai yoga Institute. 30 differently abled students also participated in the event to promote inclusivity. A Prize distribution ceremony was held to recognize and reward the best art pieces shortlisted by eminent artists celebrating the students’ creativity and dedication.

The event concluded with a ‘Sustainability Pledge’ in alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility and sustainable living among the younger generation.
