New Delhi, August 11 . Delhi BJP leader Rekha Gupta and Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, along with other MLAs, took out a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ (Tricolour Procession) within the Delhi Assembly complex on Monday. The procession began at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and concluded at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The leaders described it as a symbol of commitment to the nation’s unity, democratic values, and the ideals enshrined in the Constitution.

After the procession, the leaders stated that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (Tricolour in Every Home) campaign would further strengthen the spirit of patriotism among the people. Deputy Speaker and BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht said, “The Tiranga Yatra is intrinsically linked to our honour, dignity, and self-respect. The Tricolour is not merely a piece of cloth; it is connected to our emotions. The Ashoka Chakra within the Tricolour reminds us of the passage of time. When we look at the other elements of the Tricolour, it certainly evokes a sense of self-respect and pride within us.”

He added, “When Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme, every Indian felt that this Tricolour—with its three colours—was no ordinary object. It is for this very Tricolour that brave soldiers at the borders willingly faced bullets and even sacrificed their lives.”

Delhi government minister Ashish Sood appealed to the people, saying, “Let us all pledge to serve the country and Delhi under the shadow of the Tricolour. The Tricolour is a symbol of this nation’s honour, pride, and glory.”

Minister Ravinder Indraraj Singh said, “Today, we are not merely taking out a Tiranga Yatra; every citizen of the country is connected to it. From Yoga Day to other national occasions, the Prime Minister has transformed various events into nationwide movements. The Tricolour resides deep within our hearts and stands as a symbol of our honour, pride, and dignity.”

BJP MLA Shikha Roy said, “The Tricolour represents our honour, dignity, and pride. It is a matter of pride and joy for us.” “As we enter the month of August, we all await August 15th with the same eagerness as we do our birthdays or family celebrations. The message behind this ‘Tiranga Yatra’ is simply that our Tricolour should continue to fly proudly across the globe. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the prestige of the Tricolour has grown manifold worldwide, and we wish for that honour to be upheld. We must strive together to ensure this flag flies even higher; that is the message we wish to convey.”

MLA Ajay Mahawar said, “This is a moment of immense pride for the people of India. Independence Day is a significant occasion for all Indians, and therefore, on the final day of the session, all MLAs are taking out a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ within the Assembly complex, led by the Chief Minister.”

MLA Anil Goyal said, “The ‘Tiranga Yatra’ symbolises our honour, my self-respect, and the nation’s freedom—a freedom for which thousands sacrificed their lives. Today, in honour of the Tricolour, our Chief Minister is leading this ‘Tiranga Yatra’ at the Assembly.”

New York, August  11 President Donald Trump secretly traveled from Turkey to Britain aboard a military aircraft. According to US media reports, this was done for security reasons. While Trump had publicly boarded Air Force One, he actually made the journey to Britain in a military plane.

US media reports state that after boarding Air Force One in Turkey, President Trump was secretly whisked away to another military aircraft, hidden inside a food truck, following intelligence regarding a “credible security threat” to his official plane.

According to a *Washington Post* report from Monday, Trump publicly boarded Air Force One last month in Ankara amidst a media presence. Subsequently, he and a few key aides boarded a catering truck positioned near the aircraft’s door.

*The New York Times* reported that Trump was transferred from the food truck—which was connected to the lower section of the aircraft—into a car. From there, he was taken to a smaller C-32A military jet.

Citing unnamed officials, both newspapers reported that Trump and some close aides traveled to the Mildenhall Air Force Base in Britain on this military jet. There, they boarded a plane gifted by Qatar to continue the next leg of the journey back to the United States.

Meanwhile, other officials and journalists aboard Air Force One arrived in Britain on the original aircraft and rejoined Trump for the subsequent part of the trip; they were unaware that Trump had switched planes.

Journalists on board the aircraft recounted being instructed to keep the window shades closed during the flight.

The White House has neither confirmed nor denied these reports. However, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung indicated that there were security challenges during the President’s trip, necessitating special arrangements.

He stated, “As the President has recently said, America has many enemies who wish to target him, and we utilize every resource at our disposal to counter those threats.”

A similar incident occurred while returning from the NATO summit in Ankara on July 8.

Trump was using a plane gifted by Qatar for the trip to Ankara—an aircraft whose lavish and luxurious amenities he frequently praised. However, the Secret Service and other security agencies believed that the hasty technical modifications made to the plane did not provide the same level of security as the older Air Force One aircraft.

Consequently, Trump was transferred to the older Air Force One, and the Qatari plane was sent to Britain. He was subsequently transported in a military jet.

Trump had claimed that he sent the Qatari plane to Britain because US military personnel stationed there wanted to see the aircraft.

However, reports suggest the real reason was “credible threats” that security agencies had become aware of. It was reported that the Qatari plane lacked the anti-missile defense systems and special wiring to protect against electromagnetic attacks that are standard on the older Air Force One aircraft.

It appears that the Secret Service and other security officials later concluded that even the older Air Force One was not sufficiently secure. Therefore, the decision was made to secretly transport Trump in a military jet—a variant of the Boeing 757 that lacks the opulent amenities Trump is known to favor.

When *The New York Times* published a report citing officials regarding the security flaws of the Qatari-gifted plane, the US Department of Justice issued subpoenas to the reporters and their relatives—and even to a journalist’s mother—demanding access to their phones. Defending these unusual subpoenas, officials stated that the aim was to identify individuals who had leaked confidential information—actions they claimed had jeopardized national security. The subpoenas were subsequently withdrawn following mounting criticism.

The allegations regarding the information leak indirectly validated the very security concerns that Trump and officials had previously denied in earlier reports.

Trump stated that the aircraft is being taken out of service to undergo extensive technical upgrades.

Both the existing Air Force One aircraft and the plane provided by Qatar—which is slated to serve as a future Air Force One—are different variants of the Boeing 747.

New Delhi, August 4. India has termed the “so-called elections” being held in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) a sham and urged global organizations to take action against the atrocities being committed against ordinary citizens.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “These so-called local elections in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are a complete sham. The reality on the ground is marked by public protests and brutal killings by Pakistani forces. Such hollow claims are far removed from reality.”

Highlighting the consequences of Pakistan’s repressive policies used to quell protests in PoK, Jaiswal stated, “Since June, 90 people have been killed and many more injured in the ongoing public protests there. The ruling establishment has responded to public discontent with bullets, communication blackouts, repression, and intimidation.”

He urged the global community to clearly see through Pakistan’s hypocritical facade. He added, “Pakistan is now attempting to create an illusion of legitimacy through this hollow electoral exercise. It must be held accountable for this. The world community needs to look beyond the mask of Pakistan’s hypocritical lectures on human rights and see the reality.”

The firing by Pakistani security forces and the repressive actions against protesters in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have drawn global attention. The protests, led by the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC), began on June 5. Responding to a question regarding Pakistan’s activities that foster cross-border terrorism, Jaiswal said, “Everyone witnessed the kind of response we gave them during Operation Sindoor. We urge all nations to take strict action against cross-border terrorism and those who abet it. We also call upon Pakistan to take stringent measures against cross-border terrorism and dismantle the terror infrastructure operating from its soil.”

Ranchi, August 4  Thousands of people paid heartfelt tributes to ‘Dishom Guru’ Shibu Soren—the iconic leader of the Jharkhand movement and founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)—on his first death anniversary on Tuesday at Nemra, his ancestral village in Ramgarh district.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren unveiled a 14-foot-tall statue and became emotional while paying his respects. During the ceremony, the CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth ₹102.5 crore. The Chief Minister stated that this day marks an irreparable loss not only for his family but for the entire state of Jharkhand.

He noted that it was on this day that ‘Dishom Guru’ breathed his last, and the void left by him can never be filled. He added that Shibu Soren dedicated his entire life to protecting *Jal, Jungle, Zameen* (water, forests, and land) and tribal identity; his memories and struggles will continue to inspire future generations.

He remarked that the 14-foot statue installed at Nemra would serve as a medium to connect the new generation with their history and struggles. Today’s youth should know how the people of this region endured exploitation even after independence and how their ancestors waged a long struggle against it. He emphasized that a society can build a better future only by remembering its history.

During his address, the Chief Minister became emotional when he mentioned the memorial of his grandfather, Sobran Manjhi, located near the venue. He recalled that his grandfather had been killed by anti-social elements. Although he had not even been born at that time, such forces still exist in society today. He stated that the answer to such challenges lies in mutual unity, brotherhood, and respect for one another.

The Chief Minister observed that while some people are attempting to divide society, Jharkhand’s strength lies in its unity. He stated that thousands of people have gathered across various parts of the state today to pay tribute to ‘Dishom Guru,’ a testament to the public’s unwavering respect and faith in him. He noted that the dream of a separate Jharkhand state became a reality thanks to the struggles of Dishom Guru and other valiant heroes of the Jharkhand movement; now, the responsibility of taking the state to new heights of development lies with all of us.

He added that the government is striving to ensure that the benefits of schemes reach the last person in line and that everyone participates in the development process. Paying homage to all the martyrs of the Jharkhand movement, the Chief Minister remarked that the state’s future can be strengthened only by drawing inspiration from their struggles.

New Delhi, August 4 During the monsoon session of Parliament on Tuesday, Congress MPs targeted the NDA government on the issues of misappropriation in the Ram Temple offering case, demanding discussion in Parliament and Madrasa dispute in Uttar Pradesh. He said that the government does not want to answer, that is why the House is not able to function.

Opposition MPs including Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra protested in the Parliament complex regarding the Ram temple offering issue. The opposition alleges that transparency should be ensured in this matter and the government should respond to the allegations.

On the results of Bankipur and Datia by-elections, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the public is now tired of BJP and is understanding the circumstances of the country. Describing these election results as a positive beginning for the opposition, he said that the public inclination will become more clear in the coming times.

Congress MP Pawan Kheda said on the results of recent Bankipur and Datia by-elections that the public has given a clear message to the Bharatiya Janata Party. According to him, voters have indicated that they want change and its impact on national politics will be visible in the times to come.

Congress MP Imran Masood criticized the government on the Madrasa controversy in Uttar Pradesh. He said that Madrassas and Ulemas have made an important contribution in the country’s freedom struggle. He said that history should not be distorted and the sacrifices made in the freedom struggle should be respected.

Congress MP Ranjit Ranjan, while referring to the sexual harassment case involving wrestlers, said that the fight for justice is not over yet. He said that if the aggrieved party approaches the High Court, Congress will stand with them. He described this entire incident as an important issue related to women’s safety and justice.

On the issue of disruption of Parliament proceedings, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said that the country needs a smoothly running Parliament. He alleged that the issues being raised by the opposition are important and related to public interest, but instead of considering their demands, the government is adopting a harsh attitude.

He said there should be accountability in cases of use of force during peaceful protests and the government should seriously consider the opposition’s concerns.

On the results of Bankipur by-election, Congress MP Tariq Anwar said that this result is quite shocking, because this seat was considered a strong stronghold of BJP for a long time.

He said that this seat remained under the influence of BJP for the last two decades, but this time the voters have decided for a change. He called it a sign of the changing political attitude of the public.

Tariq Anwar also expressed concern about the proceedings of Parliament. He said that the government does not seem ready to discuss important and complex national issues. He said that the role of the opposition is equally important in democracy and if the opposition does not get an opportunity to present its views then the effectiveness of the Parliament will be affected.

New Delhi, August 4  Amidst persistent uproar and opposition protests during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Lok Sabha passed the Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2026, by a voice vote on Tuesday. This bill seeks to authorize additional government expenditure incurred during the financial year ending March 31, 2023, from the Consolidated Fund of India.

Amidst the din and slogan-shouting by opposition members in the House, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also introduced the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill for consideration. This bill proposes amendments to the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Income Tax Act, 2025, and the Finance Act, 2026.

Proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were disrupted multiple times on Tuesday due to protests by the opposition. Opposition MPs staged demonstrations within the Parliament complex over various issues. Key among these were alleged irregularities in Ram Mandir donations, police action against protesters during a ‘Parliament March’ on July 20, and the Cauvery water dispute.

Due to the continuous uproar and deadlock, Lok Sabha proceedings had to be adjourned repeatedly, and the House was eventually adjourned for the day. The Lok Sabha will now reconvene on Wednesday at 11 AM.

A day earlier, on Monday, the Lok Sabha had passed a bill to increase the sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court without a discussion, amidst opposition protests.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the opposition of repeatedly disrupting parliamentary proceedings. The party alleges that the opposition is deliberately obstructing the House’s work, thereby affecting important legislative business.

The BJP stated that the Congress and its allies are preventing discussions on crucial issues in Parliament, denying elected representatives the opportunity to raise matters of public importance. It is noteworthy that the opposition has been continuously targeting the central government during the Monsoon Session over the NEET paper leak controversy and the police action against protesters at Jantar Mantar on July 20.

Opposition parties are demanding a response from the Union Home Minister on these issues and have also been raising the matter of alleged “firing” at protesters in Parliament.

Discussions on important bills and issues of public interest are being hampered by the ongoing deadlock in both Houses of Parliament, while the standoff between the government and the opposition shows no signs of ending for now.
