Bill passed allowing Putin to become president two more times

Moscow | The Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian Parliament, has passed a bill allowing Vladimir Putin to become president for 2 more terms starting in 2024. According to the report of the news agency Xinhua, the bill was approved by the lower house of parliament, the State Duma, a week ago. Now it is expected that soon President Putin will also sign this law. The draft law was made following the constitutional amendments adopted in a nationwide referendum held in July 2020.

Under one of the 206 constitutional amendments, the head of the country seated on the post may take the post of president two more times without following the previous conditions. After the amendment was approved by the Upper House on Wednesday, Putin has the facility to resume his presidency in 2024 and then to get 2 more terms by 2036.
