Blackout in many areas including Jammu, sounds of loud explosions; CM Abdullah appeals to people to stay indoors

Srinagar, May 9  The security situation on the India-Pakistan border and LoC seems to be deteriorating. Loud explosions took place in many cities of Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan on Friday night. In view of this, a blackout was imposed in the cities and war sirens were sounded. People were appealed not to go out and stay in safe places.

It is being told that there have been drone attacks from Pakistan in Jammu, Naushera, Samba, Uri, Pokhran in Rajasthan and Pathankot in Punjab, which have been destroyed by the Indian Army. According to the information, drone attacks were carried out on Jammu airport for 12 minutes, but the security forces foiled it.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed through the social media platform ‘X’ late Friday night that there has been a blackout in the city and the sounds of sirens are being heard everywhere.

He said that from the place where he is, loud sounds of explosions, possibly heavy shelling, are being heard continuously.

In view of this sensitive situation, the Chief Minister has appealed to the people not to come out on the streets and stay safe where they are. He has especially advised the people of Jammu and its surrounding areas to stay at home or in a safe place for the next few hours.

Omar Abdullah has also urged to avoid rumors and not to share unverified information on social media or other means. He expressed confidence that we all will face this situation together and come out of it.

Apart from this, shelling is also taking place in many sectors, to which the Indian Army is retaliating. Earlier on Thursday night also, Pakistan, in a cowardly act, tried to attack several cities of India with drones, which was foiled by the Indian Armed Forces and Pakistan retaliated.
