Kolkata, March 31 The Cyber Crime Division of the West Bengal Police on Tuesday arrested Kolkata industrialist Pawan Kumar Ruia in connection with a Rs 600 crore cyber scam.

Pawan Kumar Ruia, founder-chairman of the Ruia Group, once a tycoon who acquired several government and private companies, was under the scanner of Cyber Crime Division detectives for his alleged involvement in a cyber scam.

Pawan Ruia was arrested on Tuesday evening in front of a luxury hotel in New Town on the northern outskirts of Kolkata.

A senior state police official said the arrest was made in connection with a case filed against Ruia in 2024 by Swapan Kumar Mandal at the Eco Park police station under the Bidhannagar City Police.

It is alleged that money collected through various online frauds across the country was deposited into various bank accounts belonging to Ruia and his family members. During the investigation of the complaint, cyber experts initially found clues to transactions worth ₹315 crore. Later, in November last year, the Cyber Crime Division of the West Bengal Police took suo motu cognizance of the matter and filed an FIR against Ruia.

Police claim that the money collected through cyber fraud was laundered through more than 148 shell companies registered in the names of Ruia and several members of his family. The proceeds from the cyber fraud were deposited into the accounts of all these companies.

At that time, investigating officers also raided and searched Ruia’s residence. Later, police claimed that the total fraud amount involved in this case was approximately ₹600 crore.

It has been learned that the bank accounts into which the cyber fraud proceeds were deposited were allegedly operated from the ‘Ruia Centre’ located at 46 Syed Amir Ali Avenue, Kolkata-17.

Pawan Ruia was arrested by the police in 2016 in connection with the theft of railway equipment from the Jessop factory; this factory was once owned by the Ruia Group. After the Jessop and Dunlop factories owned by him were closed, the state government attempted to take them over.

Gurugram, July 12 . Interrogation is going on with father Deepak Yadav, who was arrested in the murder case of tennis player Radhika Yadav in Gurugram, Haryana. After the completion of one-day remand on Saturday, the police produced the accused father in the court, from where he was sent to 14 days judicial custody. Meanwhile, accused Deepak’s elder brother Vijay and Radhika’s uncle made a big revelation on the murder.

Accused Deepak’s elder brother Vijay, while talking to the media on Saturday, said that when this incident happened, I was at my home. I reached the spot after hearing the noise. I asked Deepak what happened, he told me that this act has happened. Deepak said, brother, it’s a girl child murder, hang me.

Radhika Yadav’s uncle Vijay said that the murder of daughter Radhika is a sad thing. We don’t consider it good. Father is also sad. Deepak is also repeatedly demanding death penalty for female infanticide. Deepak used to support his daughter in sports. The talk of eating daughter’s earnings is wrong. Deepak never mentioned that he had any dispute with his daughter. No one except Deepak can tell why the daughter was killed?

25-year-old Radhika Yadav was murdered in Sushant Lok Phase-2, Sector-57, Gurugram, in which the father was found guilty. In the preliminary investigation of the police, it was found that Deepak Yadav was angry with his daughter Radhika Yadav for running a tennis academy. Allegedly, Deepak asked her several times to close the tennis academy, but daughter Radhika Yadav did not agree. On this, the father shot and killed the daughter.

At the same time, Ankit Patel, who was Radhika’s coach, said that no one can kill anyone like this. Such incidents are not acceptable at all. I knew her (Radhika Yadav) for a long time. When she was about 10-11 years old, her father used to bring her to tournaments and training sessions. It was clear that Radhika’s father wanted her to become a tennis player. She did well at the junior level. He would always drop her to the training centre and pick her back.
