Some films make you think. Others make you laugh so hard your cheeks ache. Directed by David Dhawan, ‘Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai’ falls into this latter category. Filled with misunderstandings, strong characters, romance, family drama, and constant comedy, this film follows the classic Bollywood entertainer formula and delivers exactly what it promises.

Written by David Dhawan, with a screenplay by Yunus Sajawal and dialogues by Farhad Samji, the film thrives on its compelling story and outspoken, fun comedy.

Story:

The story revolves around ‘Jas’, a simple and thoughtless man. His life takes an unexpected turn when personal relationships, family expectations, and several unexpected events come together.

Without giving away too much, the story traces Jas’s journey. He finds himself caught in a complex situation involving his estranged wife, Bani, and Preet, a woman who unexpectedly enters his life. What begins as a relationship drama quickly turns into a comedy filled with misunderstandings, secrets, and hilarious situations.

The story constantly throws Jas into one predicament after another, ensuring the film never becomes boring. While the premise may seem strange, the film maintains this style and strives to entertain the audience, making the journey enjoyable from start to finish.

Performance:

Varun Dhawan is completely immersed in the role of Jas. His comic timing, tremendous energy, and natural screen presence carry the film smoothly. They understand the rhythm of David Dhawan’s comedy and deliver performances that are engaging and consistently entertaining.

Mrunal Thakur brings a sense of belonging and emotional depth to the character of ‘Bani’, ensuring that her character resonates with people even amidst the chaos unfolding around her. She handles the film’s emotional moments well, and her chemistry with Varun is effortless.

Pooja Hegde shines as ‘Preet’. Confident, glamorous, and energetic, Pooja brings freshness to the story and enlivens the atmosphere whenever she appears on screen.

Manish Paul commands the most attention from the supporting cast, effortlessly creating numerous laugh-out-loud moments. Jimmy Shergill, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait, Rakesh Bedi, and Mouni Roy also deliver excellent performances, each adding their own unique touch to this fun and crazy atmosphere.

Dialogue and Humor:

Farhad Samji’s dialogue plays a key role in maintaining the film’s entertainment quotient. The punchlines are effective, the situational comedy also works, and several one-liners are sure to garner applause from audiences in theaters.

The film adapts the classic Bollywood comedy and updates it for today’s audiences, creating a blend that feels familiar and easily relatable.

Music and Technical Aspects:

The film’s music blends well with its upbeat style, while the stunning visuals and colorful production design further enhance its festive feel. David Dhawan maintains a brisk pace for most parts, ensuring the story never loses its momentum.

What Could Have Been Better:

Some of the comedy segments feel a bit overlong, and in some situations, viewers have to completely abandon their logical thinking. However, these are minor flaws, as the film focuses more on entertainment than reality.

Final Word:

‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is a brilliantly entertaining film from David Dhawan, one that perfectly embraces confusion, comedy, and chaos. With Varun Dhawan’s tremendous energy, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde’s strong support, and plenty of hilarious moments, the film offers a fun experience on the big screen.

If you’re looking for logic, this film probably isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for humor and classic Bollywood masala, this film will be a treat.

Directed by renowned animator Vaibhav Kumaresh, “Return of the Jungle” emerges as a strong and meaningful addition to the Indian animation industry. The film was showcased at the Mumbai International Film Festival, where it received appreciation from audiences and critics alike.

The film stands out for its high-quality VFX and delivers an important message for school-going children about Indian values, sportsmanship, and how to gracefully handle both victory and defeat.

Story Plot:

The story revolves around students of a Kendriya Vidyalaya. Rahul Malhotra sees himself as nothing less than Spider-Man and dominates every competition in school. Meanwhile, students from another class, led by Chhotu, decide to step up and participate in all competitions. With the blessings and guidance of “Thatha,” the children face challenges through events ranging from fashion shows to cricket matches.

Highlights:

The character of Thatha, inspired by traditional Panchatantra-style storytelling, plays a guiding force, helping children navigate difficulties and grow.

Overall:

What makes this film remarkable is the 15-year-long effort behind its creation. Despite having no star cast, the film successfully engages the audience and reflects the growing confidence of young filmmakers in Indian animation. It’s not just for kids, but a wholesome family entertainer.

New Delhi: The 15th Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF) 2026—organized jointly by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), under the Ministry of Culture, and ‘The Social Circle’—has finally commenced. This prestigious international film festival, hosted in the national capital, Delhi, is being celebrated with great grandeur from May 4 to May 8, 2026, at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Janpath, Delhi. Known globally by its acronym ‘DIFF,’ the Delhi International Film Festival has emerged this year in an even more expansive and global avatar; the event features the screening of 178 films from over 51 countries, while an exhibition of more than 100 artworks serves as a major attraction for the audience. On the occasion of the inauguration, special honors were also conferred upon O.P. Mishra, Anurag Punetha (Media Head at IGNCA), and Chairman Ram Bahadur Rai.

The festival was formally inaugurated by the renowned Malayalam filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke Award laureate, Adoor Gopalakrishnan. To mark this occasion, and in honor of the celebrated Moroccan filmmaker Mohamed Ahed Bensouda, his acclaimed film The Divorced of Casablanca is being screened. The renowned Bangladeshi vocalist Runa Laila was honored with the ‘Minar-e-Delhi’ Award, while veteran Indian singer Usha Uthup was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The return of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore to Bengali cinema is being specially highlighted through the screening of her film, Puratan: The Ancient. Starring and produced by Rituparna Sengupta, this film is garnering acclaim across the globe.

This international platform will also witness an impressive presence of prominent figures from Indian cinema, including Rituparna Sengupta, Shweta Menon, and Meghna Malik.

Globally renowned Russian film agency Roskino and Mozambique’s National Film Institute have joined the festival as collaborative partners. This film festival features a special showcase of films from Russia and China, while African cinema remains a key area of focus. Spanning five days, this event will not only screen films but also pave new avenues for cultural dialogue and international cooperation through the medium of cinema. Notably, several films featured in the Indian section of this festival have previously won National Awards, while some international entries have even been submitted for the Oscars. Furthermore, the festival has consistently played a pivotal role in fostering cinematic exchange between India and the rest of the world, facilitating the presentation of Indian film programs at festivals across various nations.

Admission to the festival will be entirely free of charge. The films have been curated by renowned film journalist Anurag Punetha, poet and critic Pramod Kaunswal, and a well-known figure from the television industry, Reema Dinesh Kapoor. The jury will be presided over by Raman Chawla.

The festival has generated considerable interest among both the general public and film critics. This is largely because the Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF) is perceived as a platform that consistently upholds its originality, independence, and authentic character—qualities that have enabled it to establish a distinct identity and reputation over the years.

Ramkishore Parcha, Founder and President of the Delhi International Film Festival, states: “We are committed to presenting the various categories we have curated for world cinema this year with the utmost credibility. In doing so, we will not only highlight the global context of these films but also organize discussions with experts regarding the intricate interplay between cinema and society. We intend to delve into the history of cinema and evaluate it through the lens of social reality.” As in previous years, our endeavor is to ensure that this film festival serves as a distinctive mirror—reflecting humanity, its struggles, and its indomitable spirit—for audiences both within the country and across the globe.

Hosted at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, this festival will showcase films across various categories, offering audiences and film critics alike the opportunity to explore the diverse dimensions of cinema. The festival features distinct sections such as World Cinema, Indian Cinema, NRI Cinema, Short Films, Documentaries, and a special Retrospective section. The World Cinema segment presents a curated selection of contemporary and classic films from various nations, offering a global perspective on social, political, and humanistic issues. The Indian Cinema segment encompasses both regional and mainstream films, providing a glimpse into fresh narratives and experimental cinematic expressions. The NRI Cinema category serves as a dedicated platform to highlight the creative prowess of filmmakers from the Indian diaspora, where stories exploring themes of identity, culture, and global experiences take center stage.

Among the films slated for screening at the festival, several special presentations have already become a subject of considerable buzz. The Divorcees of Casablanca—a film by renowned Moroccan filmmaker Mohamed Ahed Bensouda—has garnered particular acclaim for its sensitive portrayal of the complexities of relationships in modern society. Similarly, several films selected within the Indian segment are being recognized for their highly impactful exploration of contemporary social shifts, family dynamics, and personal struggles. The short film and documentary categories also feature numerous entries that possess the potential to compete on an international stage, distinguished by their subject matter, presentation, and technical excellence.

Sonam Zomba, Digambar Singh Rawat, and a Night That Reminded Everyone that Krishna Shroff, Ayesha Shroff and Tiger Shroff Are the True Pioneers Of Indian MMA

Two Indian Champions, Thirteen Bouts, One Unforgettable Night: Krishna Shroff & Tiger Shroff’s MFN 18 Was Indian MMA At Its Absolute Best

Krishna Shroff, Ayesha Shroff and Tiger Shroff once again accomplished what they set out to do with another successful MFN season. And once again, India’s premier MMA promotion proved exactly why it sits in a category of its own. What unfolded at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on May 2 was the clearest statement yet of everything Krishna Shroff, Ayesha Shroff, and Tiger Shroff have been building since 2019, a promotion with the depth, the talent pipeline, and the competitive standard to stand alongside any MMA property in the world. Thirteen bouts, two title fights, and an atmosphere that confirmed Indian MMA has found not just an audience but a genuinely invested one.

The evening’s standout moments came thick and fast, but the headline results belonged entirely to India. In the co-main event, Digambar Singh Rawat claimed the lightweight title in a performance that had the crowd on its feet. His victory felt as much like a statement as it did a result. The main event delivered something even more significant. Sonam Zomba, defending her MFN 17 championship, stepped up against Brazil’s Maristela Alves and did it again. She presented a spectacular title defence that cemented her as one of the most compelling fighters on the MFN roster and further supported exactly what Krishna has always stood for, that Indian MMA, and women’s MMA in this country specifically, is ready for the world stage.

Check Out Sonam Zomba’s Winning Moment Below:

What MFN 18 adds to, is a legacy that has grown more impressive with every edition. From its earliest seasons, Matrix Fight Night has been a consistently sold-out, consistently talked-about and more importantly, a direct feeder tournament that draws over 600 athletes each season, all competing for a handful of MFN contracts and the career pathway that comes with them. It has already produced UFC-signed fighters in Anshul Jubli and Puja Tomar. The infrastructure that comprises of MMA Matrix training facilities, international exchange programmes and world-class coaching access, has been the quiet engine behind every headline result. Eighteen editions in, Krishna Shroff, Ayesha Shroff and Tiger Shroff are not slowing down. If anything, MFN 18 suggests they are only getting started.

Mumbai If we talk about the “Tragedy Queen” of Hindi cinema, Meena Kumari, the immensely beautiful and accomplished actress, is a must. She was not only a talented actress but also a deeply sensitive Urdu poet. She wrote many poems under the pen name “Naaz,” which clearly reflect the loneliness, pain, longing for love, isolation, and emotional struggles of life.

Meena Kumari’s poems reveal her soul beyond the glamour of cinema. Even today’s generation reads the poetess within her with great interest. “Meena Kumari the Poet: A Life Beyond Cinema,” translated by Noorul Hasan and published by Roli Books, includes English translations of selected Urdu poems by Meena Kumari. The book contains poems in which the late actress poignantly expresses themes such as love, loneliness, desires, illusions, the window of dreams, silence, and innocence.

The late musician Naushad Ali said of Meena Kumari’s writing, “Her anguish was clearly evident in her poems.”

She became so despondent over her lifelong pain that alcohol and poetry became her solace. She herself said, “To combat the feeling of betrayal, I began drinking and writing poetry.”

Meena Kumari’s poems are poignant, simple, and conversational. They possess a striking immediacy that immediately captivates the reader.

Writer Noorul Hasan says, “Few people know that Meena Kumari possessed a remarkable penmanship. Her poems are far more sensitive and self-aware than her film persona.”

Soon after her death in 1972, Gulzar published a collection of her poems through Hind Pocket Books. Hasan recounts finding this slim book by chance at Howrah Railway Station, which he read repeatedly. Her poems contain both personal experience and philosophical depth. Poems like “The Dumb Child,” “Khali Dukaan,” and “Aakhri Khwahish” are deeply moving.

Poetry was Meena Kumari’s medium to express herself, eschewing public image. Her works document both the film industry and her inner world. Meena Kumari’s poems feel like diary fragments. The pain of loneliness and unfulfilled love resurfaces in them. Lines like “Zindagi sirf mohabbat se nahi chalti naaz…” reflect her marital life and personal struggles.

In “Aakhri Khwahish,” she wrote: “Tonight, this loneliness, this sound of heartbeats, this strange silence, this silent rendition of ghazals, the setting stars, this last vibration of love… this all-pervasive symphony of death, come for a moment, paint dreams of love in my closed eyes.”

The latest episode of MK Talks, hosted by Mohsin Khan, is making headlines for one bold and controversial statement by Ekta Kapoor — “new stars are depressed.” The remark, delivered candidly during the conversation, sets the tone for an episode that challenges the popular perception of today’s entertainment industry.

Ekta Kapoor pointed to a major cultural shift behind this claim. According to her, the new generation of actors has moved away from the once-vibrant social life of Bollywood. With fewer parties, almost no alcohol culture, and an intense focus on fitness, discipline, and yoga, she suggested that young stars are living more restricted and isolated lives — which may be contributing to emotional pressure and burnout.

Mohsin Khan, steering the conversation, briefly touched upon her iconic Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, where Ekta reflected on how success earlier came with shared celebration, unlike today’s quieter, more internalized journeys.

While the episode also covers her instinct for talent, evolving storytelling, and quick insights into projects like The Dirty Picture and Bhoot Bangla, the core takeaway remains her unfiltered observation about the mental and emotional state of new-age stars.

Honest and reflective, this episode of MK Talks shifts the focus from glamour to the quiet intensity shaping the lives of today’s stars.
