New Delhi, August 20  Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav said that Ayurveda’s child care system can play an important role in making children healthy and achieving the goal of ‘Healthy child, healthy India’.

Prataprao Jadhav was addressing the 30th National Seminar of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, the topic of which was ‘Disease management and health promotion in children through Ayurveda’.

More than 500 Ayurveda experts, researchers, doctors and students participated in this two-day seminar. Its objective was to promote holistic health care for children.

In his concluding message, Jadhav said, “The “Kaumarbhritya” branch of Ayurveda has a great potential to improve the health of children. This branch combines three approaches to child care, which include preventive or prevention, promotive or focus on nutrition and lifestyle to make children healthy and strong, and effective treatment of diseases. This can improve the health of children.”

Prataprao Jadhav said, “The ideas and knowledge shared in the last two days will inspire new research and practical models that will help achieve the goal of ‘Healthy Child, Healthy India’.”

He emphasized that the outcome of this seminar will further strengthen the child health infrastructure of India.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH said, “This seminar has proved to be an important platform for discussing and sharing knowledge on the role of Ayurveda in children’s health. Scientific research is necessary to prove the effectiveness of Ayurveda, so that it can be made credible. Apart from this, experts should work together to improve children’s health services by combining Ayurveda and modern medicine. This will help in creating more effective health solutions for children by combining the traditional knowledge of Ayurveda with modern science.”

RAV Director Dr. Vandana Siroha said in her closing address that the success of the seminar shows that RAV is fully committed to preparing new practitioners and researchers of Ayurveda.

In the two-day seminar, 20 scientific research papers were presented on children’s health through Ayurveda. Also, panel discussions were held on prevention of diseases and promotion of health in children.

The seminar concluded with the consensus that the holistic pediatric practices of Ayurveda should become a part of the mainstream in India’s health system. This will help in tackling lifestyle diseases, malnutrition and new health challenges, especially in children.

The event established Ayurveda as the foundation of holistic health of children and called for continued knowledge-sharing platforms at national and global levels.

New Delhi, October 13  Experts have said that grilled ultra-processed food is being used in every household in India, which is a direct reason for the ever-increasing cases of diabetes in the country.

The number of people suffering from diabetes in India is 101 million. The recently released ICMR-NIN dietary guidelines for Indians show that more than 10 percent of children aged 5-19 years are pre-diabetic.

A new study published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition shows that deep fried, baked and grilled ultra-processed foods are rich in advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which cause inflammation and increase the risk of many diseases including diabetes.

Dr V Mohan, a diabetes expert at the Chennai-based Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), told IANS that his team conducted the study on AGEs in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

“When we fry or grill foods, it produces oxidative stress that promotes inflammation. Chronic inflammation in the body is linked to diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and even certain types of cancer,” he said. Foods with high trans fats are harmful for health.”

According to the research, foods containing advanced glycation end products (AGEs) include red meat, fried foods, French fries, fried chicken, bacon, biscuits, bakery products, butter, margarine and sugary foods. On the other hand, fruits and vegetables, broccoli, legumes, oats, dairy, eggs, fish, almonds, walnuts, cashews etc. come under the category of low AGEs food.

Mohan said, “Our research has shown that foods with high dietary AGEs are associated with type 2 diabetes and inflammation. Foods with low dietary AGEs are protective against diabetes.”

Dr Ambrish Mittal, Chairman and Head – Endocrinology & Diabetes, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, told IANS, “Fried food means that our body is getting more saturated fat and calories, so it will naturally not be good for us.”

He said, “A lot of fried food in India, especially in the form of saturated fat and calories are associated with type 2 diabetes and inflammation. “Street food is usually cooked in reheated oil. Reheated oil is high in trans fats, which are a major risk factor for heart disease and certain types of cancer,” he said.

Baked food is also not necessarily healthy, he added, as most baked food is rich in carbohydrates. These foods, which boost obesity rates, are also one of the major causes of diabetes in the country, Mohan told urged the government to promote healthy eating habits.

Moreover, the MDRF study showed that “excessive consumption of white rice or wheat increases carbohydrates, which causes sugar.

Apart from this, stress, lack of sleep and air pollution are also major reasons behind it.

New Delhi, October 6. Does consuming eggs increase cholesterol level and it has a direct effect on the heart? Or how many eggs should a person eat in a day? IANS spoke to experts about all these things.

So experts are of the opinion that eating one egg every day is good for your heart and it does not increase the level of cholesterol in your blood. According to experts, this fear is baseless.

By the way, given the increase in cholesterol and deteriorating heart health, there has been a long debate on how many eggs a person can eat per day.

Dr. Rajiv Jayadevan, President of Kerala State IMA Research Cell, told IANS that eggs are an important source of complete nutrition. “Eggs are probably the best source of protein in the world, they also contain other nutrients including vitamins and minerals. Importantly, they are readily available and relatively affordable,” says Jayadevan, who is also a gastroenterologist. “There is a lot of unnecessary anxiety about egg consumption, to the extent that people are afraid to consume them. This is unwarranted and unfounded as various studies have shown that increasing the number of eggs consumed daily does not increase blood cholesterol,” says Jayadevan.

He explains that blood cholesterol is primarily produced in the liver according to the various nutritional and metabolic requirements of the body and is not affected by the amount of cholesterol consumed in our diet – such as egg intake.

“Unfortunately, there is a myth that blood cholesterol is directly related to dietary cholesterol,” Jayadevan said.

While high cholesterol levels should be avoided, especially high LDL levels (bad cholesterol), it is important to consider all factors when assessing the risk of cardiovascular disease. According to the expert, these risk factors include cigarette smoking, alcohol use, family history of heart disease, obesity, sedentary life, lack of exercise, diabetes and high blood pressure.

“Any expert can say that eating one egg per day will not harm anyone,” he said. Moreover, “occasionally eating more than one egg per day is also unlikely to change any cardiovascular outcomes.”

Eggs are rich in high-quality protein, vitamin B12, phosphorus and selenium. They also contain choline, which is important for brain health.

Vitamin A, vitamin B12 and selenium in eggs are important in improving immunity.

“While eggs provide essential nutrients, the yolk is high in dietary cholesterol, about 186 mg in one yolk,” Dr J.P.S. Sahni, chairman of the cardiology department at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, told IANS.

Sahni, who is also the chairman of the lipid guidelines recently released by the Cardiological Society of India (CSI), added, “However, dietary cholesterol has little effect on blood cholesterol levels for many people.”

While experts recommend individuals with high cholesterol or certain genetic disorders (such as familial hypercholesterolemia) and heart disease to monitor egg intake, he says, “Still, one egg per day can fit into a heart-healthy diet.”

New Delhi, October 3  Whenever someone gets a minor injury, he is advised to drink turmeric milk. It is very special and powerful in grandmother’s recipe.

Although turmeric is very special because of its properties, but do you know, Amba turmeric is much better than ordinary turmeric.

Talking about Amba turmeric, it contains anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant elements in abundance.

The taste of Amba turmeric may be a little astringent compared to normal turmeric. But, it is very special due to its properties. It is considered quite miraculous.

In Ayurveda also, Amba turmeric is described as a treasure of qualities. It has countless benefits. Amba turmeric grows in the root of the plant.

To know the benefits of Amba turmeric, she told nutritionist Nidhi Chaudhary.

She said, Amba Haldi works very well in reducing lipoxygenase and inducible levels. It reduces inflammation and also provides relief in joint pain. If you have any old injury or chronic pain in your body, then Amba Haldi works very well to provide relief. Its regular consumption can prove beneficial for health.

The nutritionist said, Amba Haldi is also known as raw turmeric. Apart from relieving pain, it also helps in maintaining cholesterol level. Its most special thing is that any normal person can include it in his diet. It is not necessary that he is a victim of any kind of pain or disease. It keeps a person away from depression and keeps him healthy. Curcumin is found in Amba Haldi, which prevents the cells of serious diseases like cancer from growing in the body. It protects men from dangerous prostate cancer and women from breast cancer.

Talking about how to use Amba Haldi, Nidhi Chaudhary said, the best way to take it is to take half water and half milk. To get more benefits, add whole black pepper to it and boil it till the mixture is reduced to half. Then consume it. Mix it well and keep in mind that it should foam while mixing, only then turmeric will show its effect.

She said that to get relief from any old injury or chronic pain, it should be consumed for at least 21 days.

New Delhi, September 21 . Although every spice kept in the spice box of Indian kitchen has its own importance and taste. If we talk about cumin, which is used to spice vegetables, then it is considered beneficial for health along with enhancing the taste.

It is believed that consuming cumin water frees you from many types of diseases. To get more information about this, IANS spoke to medical dietician and wellness expert Riddhi Khanna.

Listing the countless benefits of drinking cumin water on an empty stomach, Riddhi Khanna said, “Some such elements are found in cumin which work to keep our digestive system right, because our digestive system has a special role in our body. If our digestive system is strong, then we can protect our body from many diseases. ”

The dietician further said, “The problem of bloating is seen a lot in people these days. Cumin water is very beneficial in this. It also helps in keeping the metabolism system right.”

He said that along with keeping the metabolism right, it also works to reduce obesity. Along with this, it also keeps you full of energy throughout the day.

He further said that although cumin water is very beneficial in itself, but if it is taken by mixing coriander, celery and fennel, then it gives miraculous benefits.

While advising the people who crave for tea and coffee as soon as they wake up in the morning, the dietician said that cumin water can be a better option for those people. Consuming tea and coffee as soon as you wake up in the morning is harmful for health, because it increases the amount of acid in the body. Cumin contains many types of nutrients along with high fiber, which help in keeping a person healthy.

Let us tell you that consuming cumin water on an empty stomach keeps the blood circulation right. It also helps maintain insulin levels in the body.

Delhi recently had the privilege of hosting Dr. Shagun Gupta, one of India’s most celebrated experts in permanent makeup, anti-aging skincare, and micropigmentation. During her business trip to the capital, Dr. Gupta made appearances on various news channels, where she passionately discussed the growing trend of permanent makeup and its increasing acceptance in mainstream beauty and skincare.

Dr. Shagun Gupta, who has over a decade of experience in the field, has worked with a host of celebrities from the film and television industry. Her impressive client list includes well-known names like Freddy Daruwala, Raima Sen, Kamya Punjabi, Arshi Khan, Shaira Khan, Jasleen Matharu, and Poonam Pandey. These personalities, who are constantly in the limelight, rely on Dr. Gupta’s expertise to maintain their flawless appearances. “Celebrities understand the importance of looking their best at all times, and permanent makeup is a tool that helps them achieve that effortlessly,” says Dr. Gupta.

She added, “But it’s not just for celebrities. A normal person can also look like a celebrity with such treatments. Permanent makeup and anti-aging skincare treatments are something that everyone should try. There is no harm in this; in fact, it can significantly boost one’s confidence.”

Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, involves the application of pigments to the skin to enhance features like eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner. This technique, when performed by a skilled professional like Dr. Gupta, can create natural-looking results that last for years. With the increasing demand for low-maintenance beauty solutions, more and more people are turning to permanent makeup to enhance their features without the need for daily touch-ups.

Anti-aging treatments have often been met with skepticism, with many associating them with vanity or an unwillingness to age gracefully. However, Dr. Gupta is on a mission to change this perception. “Everyone wants to look beautiful and feel confident in their skin, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Anti-aging skincare treatments are about enhancing your natural beauty and taking care of your skin as you age. They are not about changing who you are but about bringing out the best version of yourself,” she explains.

Dr. Gupta’s approach to anti-aging is holistic, combining cutting-edge technology with a deep understanding of skincare. Her treatments are designed to address various signs of aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin, helping her clients achieve a youthful and radiant appearance. “My goal is to make people feel good about themselves, no matter their age. With the right treatment, anyone can look and feel younger,” she says.

Apart from her work in the beauty industry, Dr. Shagun Gupta is also a committed philanthropist. She runs the Shagun Gupta Foundation, which focuses on empowering women and transgenders. The foundation works to provide education, vocational training, and healthcare to underprivileged communities, helping them build better lives.

“Empowerment comes in many forms, and for me, it’s about giving people the tools and resources they need to succeed. Through the Shagun Gupta Foundation, we aim to create opportunities for those who have been marginalized, especially women and transgenders,” says Dr. Gupta.

Her work with the foundation reflects her belief that beauty and confidence go hand in hand with empowerment. By helping individuals look and feel their best, she is also helping them take charge of their lives and pursue their dreams.

Dr. Shagun Gupta’s visit to Delhi has once again highlighted her expertise in permanent makeup and anti-aging treatments. With a clientele that includes some of the most recognizable faces in the entertainment industry, Dr. Gupta has solidified her position as a leading figure in the beauty and skincare world. Through her work, both in her clinic and through her foundation, she continues to empower individuals to look and feel their best, proving that beauty truly knows no bounds.
