New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is issuing reminder to property owners in the South Zone who have not yet filed their property tax returns for the financial year 2024-25. With the fiscal year-end approaching, the MCD is calling on all non-filers to submit their returns and settle outstanding dues to avoid penalties and legal action.
The South Zone has seen significant progress in tax compliance this year. However, a number of property owners remain non-compliant. The MCD emphasizes that property tax is a critical source of revenue used to fund essential civic services, including road maintenance, sanitation, and infrastructure development, benefiting all residents.

“We urge property owners in the South Zone to fulfill their civic responsibility by filing their property tax returns promptly,” said Sh. Navin Kumar, Jt. A&C, South Zone, MCD. “To support taxpayers, we have made the process simple and accessible through our online portal at mcdonline.nic.in. Assistance is also available at local MCD offices for those needing guidance.”

Non-filers are reminded that failure to comply may result in penalties under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957, which allow for the recovery of dues through measures such as property attachment or bank account seizures.

Property owners can log in to mcdonline.nic.in using their registered mobile number, generate an OTP, and file their returns or pay dues seamlessly. For those without a Unique Property Identification Code (UPIC), the portal provides an option to register and obtain one.

The MCD remains committed to supporting residents and ensuring a transparent and efficient tax system. For further assistance, property owners may contact the South Zone office at Assessment & Collection Department, South Zone, MCD, Near Sangam Cinema, Sector-9, R. K. Puram, New Delhi, Delhi 110022 or call 8588812210. The office is open all days including Saturday, Sunday and Gazetted Holidays till 31st March, 2025.

Let’s work together to build a better Delhi. File your property tax today!

The centre offers training in diverse skill areas, empowering students to become job-ready and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. The principals engaged in discussions with faculty members gaining insights into how vocational training can be effectively implemented at the school level.

Our skill development initiatives ensure that students graduate with not just knowledge but also practical expertise that makes them industry-ready and employable.”

The principals were given an exclusive tour of Hindu College’s state-of-the-art research and innovation facilities, which have been instrumental in fostering scientific advancements. Some of the key centres showcased included Green Chemistry Network Centre, Centre for Environmental Studies, Synthesis Laboratory & Distillation Plant, Life Sciences Research Laboratory, Material Synthesis Laboratory. The interaction between Hindu College and the visiting school principals paved the way for future collaborations, encouraging schools to integrate skill-based learning into their curricula. By fostering dialogue between higher education institutions and school leadership, this initiative aimed to create a seamless transition for students from school to college, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an evolving job market.

New Delhi : It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to my first Press Conference as the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly. The first session of the VIII Assembly commenced on 24th February 2025 and was adjourned sine die on 03rd March 2025. The sittings of the
House were held on 24th, 25th, 27th, 28th February and 3rd March 2025. As per established practice the members took their oath on the first day i.e. 24th March 2025. During these five sittings the House conducted business for 18 hours and 18 minutes. 126 Members expressed their views on various issues. It is nothing short of a record that so many Members got a chance to participate in the debates in the first session itself.

As per established practice, all the newly elected Members took oath. Senior member Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, had been appointed as the protem Speaker for this purpose. On 25th February 2025, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor addressed the House and described the main issues on which the Government proposed to take action for the welfare of the people of Delhi. The Motion of Thanks was adopted by the House on 28th February 2025. 16 Members participated in the debate and the Hon’ble Chief Minister replied to the
debate.

I met the Hon’ble LG on 03rd March 2025 and personally handed over to him a communication in this regard. The Hon’ble LG thereafter sent a Message to the House, which I read during the sitting of the House Yesterday. Unfortunately on 25th February 2025 I had to send out Members of the Opposition for their unruly action and disturbance to the LGs Address.

The LG Address is a solemn occasion and the Hon’ble LG was discharging his constitutional duties. The Rules of Procedure forbids such disturbances of the LG Address. The Members were later suspended by the House for three sittings for disturbing the LGs Address.
I was also pained by the fact that the Leader of Opposition and her party Members disturbed the proceedings when she was asked to speak on my election as the Speaker.
The House elected Shri Mohan Singh Bisht as the Deputy Speaker in the sitting held on 27th February 2025.

Another important highlight of the First Session was the laying of CAG Reports on the Table of the House. As you would all be aware, I had personally pursued the delay in laying of the CAG Reports by the AAP Government and we had even approached the High Court for this purpose. The CAG’s ‘Performance Audit Report on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi’ was laid on the Table of the House on 25th February 2025 by The Hon’ble Chief Minister. The Report was discussed in the House for two days. 23 Members participated in this discussion. On 28th February the Hon’ble Chief Minister laid the CAG’s Report on Public Health Infrastructure and Management of Health Services. The House discussed the Report on 28th February and 3rd March 2025. The PAC shall examine these Reports. I have directed that the PAC shall submit its Report within three months. The concerned  departments i.e. Excise and Health have been directed to send their respective ATNs within a period of one month.
On 27th February 2025 Shri Satish Upadhyay called the attention of The House towards “alleged insult to the statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and gross negligence of martyrs during the tenure of the previous AAP Government.”

The House made obituary references on the passing away of Shri Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India on 27th February 2025. Two minutes silence was also observed on 03rd March 2025 on the sad demise of the mother of Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, Hon’ble Minister. The House disposed of all the listed business. On 3rd March the House conducted business from 11 AM till 6 PM which shows that time is not a constraint for issues of public interest.

Dear friends I intend to run the Assembly in a fair and impartial manner and in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and our Rules of Procedure. We shall do away with all the wrong practices which had been followed during the past ten years. Now all the sessions shall be duly prorogued. The practice of holding sessions in part for the whole year will not be followed. Special sessions will be called only in emergent and important situations. The sessions of the Assembly are very important. There will be Question Hour in the Budget session a practice which had been almost done away by the previous government. All the members will be given equal importance irrespective of the party affiliation. However in case Rules are violated strict action will be taken. Maximum utilization of the floor time shall be my primary concern. The House shall run with co operation, balance, goodwill and established
Rules. As you are all aware, the Delhi Assembly building holds vast historic significance in our freedom stru

New Delhi : The Office of Alumni Relations of Hindu College celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of its esteemed alumnus, Late Shri Lalit Kumar Jain, with a special event honoring his contributions and legacy. As part of this commemoration, the college announced the establishment of the Lalit Kumar Jain Memorial Research Fellowship, a significant initiative aimed at advancing interdisciplinary research.

Speaking on the occasion, Hindu College Principal, Prof. Anju Srivastava, expressed her gratitude, stating, “The fellowship has been made possible through the generous support of Shri Subodh Kumar Jain, son of Late Shri Lalit Kumar Jain, who continues to uphold his father’s inspiring legacy. This fellowship is a tribute to a cherished alumnus whose vision and dedication have left an indelible mark on our institution. We are honored to partner with Shri Subodh Kumar Jain in fostering research and academic excellence.”

As part of the celebrations, the college awarded the Lalit Kumar Jain Memorial Research Fellowship to faculty members across seven interdisciplinary projects spanning Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Environmental Science, Sociology, and Political Science. These projects, awarded for a duration of two years, will contribute to impactful research in their respective fields.

Addressing the gathering, Subodh Kumar Jain said, “During my interaction with the college Principal, Anju Srivastava, and various faculty members, I always observed their commitment to providing young minds with the best platform as they step into the world and to nurturing young minds like yours. It is well known that many alumni of the college are well-placed in society and have immensely contributed to nation-building. My late father, lovingly called Babuji by us, was also a student of this college—then located at Kashmiri Gate—and graduated in the year 1945. It was due to the teachings of this college that he was able to achieve great success in his life—outstanding success, I would say. He often shared his experiences with us and spoke highly of the teachers and professors, fondly recalling his days there,” he further added.

The event featured an inspiring online motivational speech by renowned inclusion expert and disability rights activist Sruti Mohapatra, who emphasized the importance of perseverance, inclusivity, and academic dedication.

The commemoration concluded with a mesmerizing musical concert, led by celebrated vocalist Vidya Shah, accompanied by an ensemble of distinguished musicians: Satish Solanki (percussion), Shanti Bhushan Jha (tabla), Dr. Ashique Kumar (harmonium), and Amit Bhatia (guitar). Their soulful renditions captivated the audience and added a cultural dimension to the heartfelt tribute.

The function was graced by the College Governing Chairman, T. C. A. Rangachari, member of the governing body, Prof. Ashok Mittal, and the family members of Late Shri Lalit Kumar Jain, including Shri Subodh Kumar Jain, owner of Siddho Mal Group, along with faculty members and students of Hindu College.

New Delhi, March 2  Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said while talking to the media on Sunday that the discussion on CAG will continue on March 3 as well. He said that he will meet Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena at 10 am on Monday and will submit a motion of thanks to him on his address.

Vijender Gupta said, “Our effort is that the House runs according to the law and all the members of the ruling party and the opposition participate in the discussion. We invite everyone to participate in the discussion.”

He said that during the address in the Delhi Assembly, members of the ruling party and the opposition participated and thus a new enthusiasm and confidence was infused in the House. This moment is important in this new session because some attempts were made to disrupt the address, but all the members avoided this and discussed it in a strong and systematic manner.

The speaker said that if any party is running away from the discussion, then it is unfortunate because discussion is an integral part of a healthy democratic process. He believes that the conclusions emerging from the debate will be beneficial for the citizens of Delhi. He stressed that there should be constructive discussion in the House and not noise so that some meaningful results can be drawn from it.

Earlier, Delhi government minister Kapil Mishra also said that a report related to health will be presented in the assembly on Monday and issues related to Delhi will be discussed in the house. He told  on Sunday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is creating a ruckus because its deeds are being exposed. While in the government, they committed a lot of scams, which are now being exposed, due to which AAP is scared. Kapil Mishra said that creating a ruckus on any report has become a habit of the opposition. The CAG report will be discussed in the house on Monday. A lot of irregularities have been done in the health sector.

New Delhi :Green Chemistry Network Centre, Hindu College, University of Delhi launched a unique certificate course on Green Chemistry: Shaping our Sustainable Future, designed to provide in-depth knowledge and practical insights into sustainable chemical practices, at the Sushila Devi Auditorium, Hindu College, University of Delhi. The occasion was graced by Dr. Ettigounder Ponnusamy, Director and Fellow, Green Chemistry, MilliporeSigma, US.

The event commenced with the lighting of the sacrificial lamp by the chief guest along with Prof. R.K. Sharma, Honorary Secretary, RSC London North India Section and Director, Green Chemistry Network Centre, Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal, Hindu College, Prof. Reena Jain, Vice-Principal, Hindu College and the professors of the Department of Chemistry, Hindu College.

Prof. Srivastava delivered the welcome address, formally welcoming Dr. Ponnusamy to Hindu College. She emphasized the challenges faced during the initial years of Green Chemistry, and how the view has slowly changed in the past few years. This was followed by an insightful introductory session on Green Chemistry and Green Chemistry Network Centre by Prof. Sharma.

The highlight of the event was the inaugural lecture by Dr. Ponnusamy, who introduced the participants to a new cutting-edge tool on Green Chemistry, DOZN™3.0 — a third party-validated/published green chemistry evaluator based on the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry which can be used to evaluate the relative greenness of chemical processes and hence provide a framework for learning about green chemistry and designing or improving materials, products, processes, and systems.

The course generated a great response in the scientific community, with over fifty registrations across institutions in India and abroad. This course represents a significant step toward equipping the participants with the knowledge and tools needed to drive innovation while minimizing environmental impact. By integrating the principles of Green Chemistry into education and practice, there is a hope to foster a new generation of scientists and professionals dedicated to responsible and ethical scientific advancements.
