New Delhi:Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in his first press conference after being acquitted in the liquor scam case, directly attacked the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah. He alleged that a conspiracy was hatched against him to destroy the Aam Aadmi Party.

He demanded that both leaders apologize to the people of Delhi for implicating him and AAP leaders in false cases. He challenged the central government to hold new elections to the Delhi Assembly to gauge the public mood and anger.

Kejriwal was present at the press conference with his close associates and senior AAP leaders. He thanked the judges and lawyers for following the law and showing courage even in difficult circumstances.

He stated that his party would soon challenge the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case against him in the High Court, as the ED’s case lacks solid foundation after the CBI case was dismissed by the court.

Addressing the media at the party office, the AAP chief said that he, Sisodia, and other leaders were implicated in a false and fabricated case that failed to stand legal scrutiny and collapsed before the trial even began.

He said, “The court said there was insufficient evidence and material to begin the trial. In its 600-page order, the court clearly stated that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case.”

Launching a scathing attack on the central government, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah conspired to destroy the Aam Aadmi Party.

He alleged, “This was their most dangerous and deliberate plot to oust us from power. For the last four years, they were harassed using central agencies like the CBI and ED.”

The AAP leader said that he had earned nothing but respect in his life, and the BJP targeted him for political gain. In its pursuit of power, the central government jailed five senior leaders of his party. He said, “The court’s decision clearly and strongly proves that Kejriwal and AAP leaders are “radically honest.”

The AAP founder said the Prime Minister and Home Minister should stop trading accusations and focus on improving governance.

Kejriwal challenged the Prime Minister to an election, saying that if elections were held today, the public’s anger would be clearly visible.

He said, “You won’t get more than 10 seats.” Responding to the Congress’s claim that the clean chit was a conspiracy, he asked why no Congress leader, including Rahul Gandhi or Robert Vadra, went to jail.

New Delhi, Feb 27  The Rouse Avenue Court in the national capital on Friday acquitted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal and his close aide Manish Sisodia, along with 23 others, in the excise policy case, also known as the liquor policy scam.

Despite months in jail, Kejriwal and Sisodia have been acquitted in this case. Following their acquittal, the Aam Aadmi Party and the India Alliance accused the BJP of using central agencies for political gain. Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the BJP conspired against him to form the government in Delhi.

Now let’s learn how it all began. In November 2021, the Aam Aadmi Party government formulated the Delhi Excise Policy to reform and bring about structural changes in the liquor trade and its regulation in the national capital. Within months of its implementation, the policy became embroiled in controversy when the BJP accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of colluding with the liquor mafia to fill its coffers. Amid the ongoing blame game, the Delhi government repealed the policy in 2022.

The case was filed after then-Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar submitted a report to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena in July 2022. The case pointed to several “procedural lapses and deficiencies” in the policy’s formulation.

The report submitted to the Lieutenant Governor cited several arbitrary and unilateral decisions taken by then-Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and claimed that this resulted in a financial loss of over ₹500 crore to the government treasury.

The controversial Kejriwal government dismissed allegations of irregularities and collusion, claiming that the move was aimed at improving customer experience and curbing the liquor black market. However, a report submitted to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi detailed bribes and illegal kickbacks received by the Aam Aadmi Party government and leaders from liquor traders. It alleged that license fee waivers and waivers worth hundreds of crores of rupees were granted.

Based on reports of “serious violations,” the Lieutenant Governor recommended a CBI investigation. The CBI investigation accused Manish Sisodia and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders of several serious violations, including manipulating the liquor policy to benefit wholesalers, and subsequently arrested them. The CBI claimed that several liquor companies, including those from southern states, paid bribes totaling ₹100 crore to Aam Aadmi Party leaders.

The CBI claimed that this money was used to fund the party’s election campaign in Goa and Punjab ahead of the 2022 assembly elections. The issue subsequently escalated into a major controversy, with the BJP accusing the Kejriwal government of looting public funds to further the party’s political ambitions. Kejriwal vehemently denied these allegations and accused the central government of acting out of vengeance against the Aam Aadmi Party.

When charges were framed, Arvind Kejriwal was named in the CBI chargesheet as the main conspirator. Kejriwal was directly accused of formulating controversial policies and laundering proceeds of crime. The then Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, who also held the portfolio of Excise Minister, was accused of making arbitrary and unilateral decisions to benefit private liquor traders.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Kejriwal on March 21, 2024. Subsequently, the CBI arrested him in the same case on June 26, 2024.

New Delhi, Dec 22 The Delhi government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is rapidly implementing a multi-pronged strategy to reduce air pollution in the capital. The positive effects of the strict GRAP-4 provisions, implemented over the past four days, are now visible on the ground, with improvements in air quality being recorded.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that since the implementation of the “No PUC, No Fuel” rule, over 200,000 vehicles have been tested and issued PUC certificates. He said that this is a clear indication that strict enforcement is showing results in the right direction.

The Minister also informed that all PUC centers are being upgraded with modern and advanced machines to ensure accurate results and minimize delays in testing. Additionally, a third-party inspection system is being implemented to make the PUC system more reliable. Technical teams from the Transport Department are continuously monitoring the site to ensure no irregularities occur.

Starting today, the campaign against polluting industries across Delhi has intensified. Any industrial unit found violating air pollution regulations will be immediately sealed. Strict action will also be taken against industries that do not apply for OECM certification by December 31st.

The MCD and DPCC are jointly identifying illegal and unauthorized industrial units operating in the city. All such units will be closed. The Minister said, “The Delhi Government is committed to ensuring 100% compliance.”

Mr. Sirsa informed that roads are being cleaned and water sprayed around the clock to control dust. Additionally, approximately 35,000 metric tons of waste is being scientifically bio-mined daily at landfill sites, eliminating mountains of old waste and reducing dust pollution.

The Honorable Minister also briefed on the progress being made toward reviving the city’s water bodies. He stated that the government aims to restore at least 50 percent of the water bodies that have been destroyed or encroached upon over the years to their original state in the coming years. These water bodies play a vital role in reducing dust and improving the city’s environment.”

Regarding work-from-home directives, the Minister clearly stated that action will be taken against private companies that do not comply with the 50% work-from-home requirement under GRAP-4. Convenience is important, but public health cannot be compromised.

Responding to reports of technical glitches in ANPR cameras, the Minister stated that the Transport Department is looking into the issue. He targeted the previous government, saying that negligence was also evident in the projects they handled. “We thought at least these cameras would be in working order, but complaints are still emerging here.”

Sirsa launched a scathing attack on the former Chief Minister of Delhi, saying that those who ruled Delhi for ten years and left behind pollution, mismanagement, and corruption now come here only as political tourists for photo opportunities and appearances at events. He said, “Such people have no moral right to speak on Delhi’s environment.”

In conclusion, the Environment Minister thanked the citizens and officials of Delhi for their cooperation and appealed for their continued support. He said, “The government is moving forward with full determination. Together, we can make Delhi cleaner, safer, and healthier.”
