New Delhi, May 17 Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government is working extensively to empower women in the capital to become self-reliant, entrepreneurs, and economically empowered. To this end, the government has provided collateral-free loans of up to Rs 10 crore for women self-help groups and startups, guaranteed by the Delhi government itself.

The Chief Minister announced that the Delhi government will now regularly provide appropriate platforms for indigenous products in malls and large shopping complexes, where local products can find a wider market.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was addressing the inauguration of the two-day ‘Mega Self Help Group (SHG) Mela-2026’ held at Unity One Mall, near Rohini West Metro Station in northwest Delhi on Saturday evening. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is continuously presenting the vision of ‘adopting indigenous products’, ‘self-reliant India’, and ‘one district, one product’ to the country. Furthering this vision, this fair is a powerful effort to promote indigenous products made by women and connect them to the market.

Member of Parliament Yogendra Chandolia, MLA Kulwant Rana, North West District District Magistrate Soumya Saurabh, senior district administration officials, representatives from various banking institutions, and a large number of women associated with self-help groups were present on this occasion. The fair was organized by the North West District Administration.

The Chief Minister said that the country’s women, through small industries and handmade products, are not only increasing their family income but also strengthening the country’s economy. He said that people often chase foreign brands, while Indian handicrafts, khadi, home-made products, and handmade items are incomparable in quality. The only need is better branding and marketing.

He said that today, India is rapidly moving towards self-reliance in every sector, including defense, space, agriculture, and manufacturing, and Indian products are being exported worldwide. Therefore, there is a need to give national and international recognition to the home-made and handmade products made by women. The Chief Minister appealed to the people to use more local and indigenous products instead of foreign goods.

The Chief Minister said that the Delhi government wants every woman in the capital to join self-help groups, produce their own products, and market them. He said that the government is also making efforts to provide easy loans to women through banks. Various banks were also involved in this fair to strengthen the banking and financial access of self-help groups.

According to the Chief Minister, the Delhi government has arranged for collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 crore for women self-help groups and startups, which are being guaranteed by the Delhi government itself. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to conserve fuel, use public transport, and adopt indigenous products. The Delhi government is also promoting campaigns like “Monday Metro” and “No Vehicle Day” to save fuel and boost the national economy. He said that if people make small changes to their daily routine, the country will directly benefit.

Approximately 24 self-help groups participated in this mega fair. Handicrafts, crochet work, khadi, household products, food items, and other handmade items were exhibited and sold. Handicrafts from North West District were specially showcased under the “One District, One Product” campaign. The Chief Minister congratulated the district administration and all participants involved in the event, stating that such events play an important role in strengthening a self-reliant India and the indigenous economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

New Delhi, May 17 CNG prices have become expensive again in Delhi. Prices were raised by Re 1 per kg on Sunday. This is the second increase in just two days, further increasing the burden of fuel costs on commuters in the Delhi-NCR region.

CNG prices in Delhi rose by Re 1 to Rs 80.09 per kg on Sunday. This is the first time that CNG prices in Delhi have crossed the Rs 80 mark. Following this increase, CNG prices in Noida and Ghaziabad will now cost Rs 88.70 per kg.

Earlier, on Friday, CNG prices were increased by Rs 2 per kg. At that time, the price of CNG in Delhi had risen to Rs 79.09 per kg.

Petrol prices were also increased by approximately ₹3 per liter and diesel by approximately ₹3 per liter in the national capital on Friday. Following this change, petrol is selling at ₹97.77 per liter and diesel at ₹90.67 per liter in Delhi.

This surge in fuel prices comes amid escalating tensions in West Asia and the continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy trade routes. Nearly a fifth of global oil and gas trade passes through this narrow strait, and supply disruptions have led to a sharp rise in international crude oil prices.

Responding to criticism over rising fuel prices, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju recently stated that India has managed to contain the increase in petrol and diesel prices despite the sharp surge in global crude oil prices.

He pointed out that while fuel prices in many countries have seen increases ranging from 20 percent to nearly 100 percent, petrol and diesel prices in India have risen by only 3.2 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively. Rijiju said that while global markets are volatile, India’s public sector oil marketing companies bore heavy losses for weeks to protect consumers from the major impact of inflation.

She said that the objective of the present government is to ensure that no employee, officer, or common citizen faces injustice, and that everyone receives all essential facilities with dignity and respect.

Delhi Government Minister – Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh stated that both initiatives undertaken by NDMC to provide appointment letters to the dependents of deceased employees and extending medical card facilities to employees working on a contractual basis are significant steps towards social welfare. He said that these measures have brought smiles of happiness to the faces of the dependents of the deceased families and also they have given a sense of reassurance to contractual employees, who will no longer have to bear additional financial burdens during medical emergencies.

Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh also recalled NDMC’s initiative taken a few years ago to regularise 4,400 temporary employees. He stated that these initiatives are not being undertaken with the intention of gaining votes, but rather to fulfil the government’s responsibility towards the people and society, those responsibilities that previous governments had failed to address due to various reasons.

Ms. Bansuri Swaraj said that the long-pending demands for compassionate appointments and the provision of medical card facilities for employees working on a contractual basis had been considered and approved by the NDMC Council with complete sensitivity and compassion. She described it as not merely an administrative initiative but a deeply humanitarian one. She further said that the affection and compassionate leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister are reflected in these two decisions of the NDMC today. For this, the entire NDMC Council deserves appreciation for demonstrating remarkable human sensitivity in taking these decisions.

Shri Keshav Chandra, Chairman, NDMC, in his welcome address, stated that the distribution of appointment letters on compassionate grounds to 109 employees reflects NDMC’s dedication to providing dignity, financial stability, and emotional support to the families of deceased employees who had devoted years of service to the Council. The Chairman, NDMC, emphasized that the initiative symbolizes NDMC’s commitment to standing firmly with its employees and their families in difficult times.

He informed that around 878 contractual employees and their families will now be entitled to cashless medical treatment at NDMC-empanelled hospitals and diagnostic centres. Describing the move as a major step towards social security, inclusiveness, and employee welfare, the Chairman said the decision would ensure dignified healthcare support and financial protection during medical emergencies.

He also highlighted several achievements of NDMC during 2025-26, including 954 promotions through 81 Departmental Promotion Committees, the grant of MACP benefits to 4,357 employees, expedited pension settlements, and recruitment initiatives through DSSSB and UPSC. He added that NDMC would continue strengthening administrative transparency and employee services in 2026-27 through various initiatives.

New Delhi, May 13  The number of vehicles in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy has been significantly reduced. This decision was taken amid Prime Minister Modi’s ‘energy conservation’ appeal.

Prime Minister Modi has reduced the number of vehicles in his official convoy to reduce fuel consumption. At the same time, all mandatory security measures under the SPG protocol have been fully maintained.

A video shows PM Modi’s convoy as being very small, consisting of only a few vehicles.

According to sources, during his recent visit to Assam for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s swearing-in ceremony and while attending the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav in Gujarat, the Prime Minister’s convoy was significantly smaller than before.

The SPG has begun implementing the Prime Minister’s directives and has reduced the number of vehicles, but essential security arrangements remain in place.

This move by the Prime Minister is being seen as a message that the government is moving towards fuel efficiency and reducing expenses. This could inspire other ministers and leaders to adopt similar measures.

Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh was also seen traveling in a single vehicle. A video of him has surfaced, showing him in a single vehicle. No security or pilot vehicle is visible with him.

It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister had appealed to the countrymen to reduce fuel consumption and use more public transport such as the metro, carpooling, and electric vehicles. He also urged them to prioritize domestic travel over buying gold and traveling abroad.

According to sources, the Prime Minister has also given instructions to include electric vehicles in his convoy.
