The possibility of tourism will also increase through Dudhwa National Park. Money has also been given to have an airport in Lakhimpur Kheri. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that eight years ago, every year there used to be large-scale deaths due to infectious diseases in various areas of the state. During that time, the arrangements for identification, prevention and treatment of diseases in the state were not available to the general public. The efficiency with which the Yogi government faced this horror in the state during the Covid global disease was praised globally. The way medical facilities have spread in the state today and are continuously happening is amazing.

He informed that at present there are 80 medical colleges in the state, out of which 44 are run by the state government and 36 are in the private sector. Two AIIMS and IMS, BHU, Varanasi and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh are operating in the state. In the year 2024-2025, 13 autonomous medical colleges and new medical colleges have been established in three districts, Maharajganj, Sambhal and Shamli, on PPP mode. At present, 11,800 MBBS seats and 3,971 PG seats are available in government and private sector medical colleges, medical institutions, universities in the state.

The Finance Minister informed that the Central Government has announced to add a total of 10,000 seats for UG, PG in the year 2025-2026, out of which 1,500 seats will be given to Uttar Pradesh. For this, a provision of about Rs 2,066 crore is proposed. In the year 2017, the total number of super specialty seats in government medical colleges was 120. In the academic session 2024-2025, the number of seats was increased to 250. A provision of Rs 27 crore and Rs 25 crore respectively is proposed for the establishment of autonomous state medical colleges in Ballia and Balrampur. At the same time, Ayushman cards of 5.13 crore people have been made under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

He informed that Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the whole country in making Ayushman cards. Primary health units are being upgraded as Ayushman Arogya Mandir. At present, a total of 22,681 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been established. Providing medical facilities in rural areas by starting teleconsultation from sub-centers has been started from July 2020. Free dialysis services are being provided in the state on PPP mode funded by the National Health Mission. In the state, the National Health Mission is providing free service of CT scan in district hospitals on PPP mode.

He said that at present, 2,110 Ayurvedic, 254 Unani and 1,585 Homeopathic hospitals are operating in various districts of the state, along with 8 Ayurvedic colleges and their affiliated hospitals, two Unani colleges and their affiliated hospitals and 9 Homeopathic colleges and their affiliated hospitals. In the financial year 2025-2026, the construction work of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, Gorakhpur is targeted to be completed, the construction work of Government Ayurvedic College in Ayodhya district is completed, and a Government Homeopathic Medical College is established in Varanasi district.

Yogi government’s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna also told about the changes in Jal Jeevan Mission under the leadership of the double engine government. He said that the importance of availability of drinking water at home can only be understood by those who do not have this facility and whose women and children have to leave the house every day to fetch drinking water from far away. Availability of tap water in homes has brought great relief to these families. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, a target has been set to provide pure drinking water to all 2.67 crore rural families of the state by providing them functional home tap connections. As against the said target, functional home tap connections have been provided in 2.34 crore homes.

The Finance Minister informed that a total of 67 sewerage related projects have been approved to keep the Ganga free from pollution and to stop the flow of contaminated water in it, whose total approved cost is Rs 14,823 crore. Till date, 39 projects have been completed and are being operated and the remaining projects are under construction. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, a provision of Rs 4,500 crore for community contribution for rural drinking water schemes and Rs 1 crore for maintenance and operation under Jal Jeevan Mission scheme is proposed. A provision of Rs 1,100 crore has been proposed for the Chief Minister’s Minor Irrigation Scheme.
