Patna, April 11 Veteran Bollywood actor and TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying its political strategy will not succeed in West Bengal.

While speaking to media in Patna on Saturday, Shatrughan Sinha referred to a recently viral video and claimed that it contained a lot of truth and exposed the BJP’s alleged conspiracies.

According to Sinha, TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, with his ingenuity, exposed the BJP’s ‘1,000 crore deal’ scam, the effects of which are now visible across the country.

Sinha also criticized the BJP’s “washing machine” approach, alleging that leaders accused of corruption are inducted into the party and later acquitted of the charges.

Citing incidents in Maharashtra, he said that people previously accused in major scams were given key positions after joining the BJP.

He questioned whether similar action would be taken against leaders facing allegations in West Bengal.

Praising Mamata Banerjee, Shatrughan Sinha called her the “Iron Lady” and described her leadership as tested and proven.

He asserted that the people of West Bengal stand firmly with her and expressed confidence that the TMC will achieve a decisive victory in the upcoming elections.

Shatrughan Sinha also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that many of their past promises have not been fulfilled.

He cited assurances such as large-scale employment generation and financial benefits, saying that these have now become the subject of public criticism.

Raising the issue of pending funds under MNREGA (now VBJI Ram Ji), he alleged that large sums earmarked for beneficiaries in West Bengal have not yet been released by the central government.

Sinha’s comments have further intensified political rhetoric ahead of the elections, as parties in West Bengal are trading sharp accusations and counter-accusations.

New Delhi, March 31  The West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for late April are no longer just a political contest. They have become a direct battle for identity and power between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari. The Bhawanipur Assembly seat is at the center of this battle.

In 2021, this politics became even more personal when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee challenged her former ally, Suvendu Adhikari, in his stronghold of Nandigram.

Many Trinamool Congress supporters saw this as an attempt to teach Suvendu Adhikari a lesson for leaving the party. But this decision did not prove to be a good one for Mamata Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee lost in Nandigram by about 2,000 votes, although her party, the Trinamool Congress, won a landslide victory across the state, winning 215 of the 294 seats.

Mamata Banerjee relied on her political acumen, but she overlooked that Suvendu Adhikari played a key role in instigating and strengthening the 2007 Nandigram movement.

This movement was a major factor in the ouster of the Left Front government from power in 2011. The Adhikari family has long held political influence in the East Medinipur district. His father, Shishir Adhikari, was elected as a Trinamool Congress MP from the Kanthi Lok Sabha seat three times in a row (2009, 2014, and 2019).

Due to old age and health issues, he did not contest the 2024 elections. The seat subsequently passed to his son, Soumendu Adhikari, who won as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate.

Incidentally, the BJP won four of the seven assembly seats falling under this Lok Sabha constituency in the 2021 state elections.

After Suvendu Adhikari’s separation, the family severed all ties with the Trinamool Congress. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Abhijit Gangopadhyay won the Tamluk Lok Sabha seat.

On the other hand, for Mamata Banerjee, it was a by-election from her “para” (area) Bhawanipur, which gave her the opportunity to become the Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third consecutive time.

Now, her former aide, Suvendu Adhikari, has brought the electoral battle directly to her stronghold. However, Suvendu Adhikari has also filed his nomination from Nandigram. Thus, he has kept his options open for entering the Assembly. His confidence has certainly raised some concerns within the Trinamool Congress camp.

Several senior Trinamool Congress leaders are camping in Bhawanipur and campaigning in support of their leader, while Mamata Banerjee herself is touring the entire state. Suvendu Adhikari is confident of his victory for several reasons. First, he says that if the Election Commission conducts a “Special Intensive Revision” (SIR) of the voter list, many Trinamool Congress votes could be deleted. He alleges that some of these voters are “fake” or “illegal immigrants.”

He is also banking on an “anti-incumbency wave.” According to him, law and order problems in the state—such as the rape and murder of a medical intern at RG Kar Hospital, political violence, and investigations by central agencies against Trinamool leaders—have fueled public anger.

Guwahati, March 31 The political atmosphere in Assam is heating up ahead of the upcoming elections. Congress leader Meera Borthakur on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP’s election manifesto, calling it “just a sham.”

She said the BJP made several promises in its vision document, including ensuring Assam’s security and expelling infiltrators, but there is no visible impact on the ground.

Borthakur said, “A lot has been written in the manifesto, but no actual work has been done.” She questioned the ruling party’s performance.

She also strongly condemned the alleged attack on a Congress candidate and accused BJP workers of being involved in the violence. She said, “Such incidents are unacceptable. We strongly condemn the attack on our candidate.”

Reacting to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s allegations of property in Pakistan, Borthakur called these claims a political conspiracy. He said that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is making such statements out of fear of losing political ground.

He said, “Gaurav Gogoi is gaining support, and fearing his chances of coming to power is fueling such allegations.”

Regarding the electoral contest, Borthakur described the Congress as strong, claiming that the party would perform well in all seats. He said that senior leader Pradyut Bordoloi would finish third, while leaders like Jayanta Das would be key contenders in the closely contested elections.

Speaking on cultural issues, he mentioned popular Assamese singer Zubin Garg and said that if Congress comes to power, justice will be ensured within 100 days.

He said, “Congress fulfills its promises. Zubin Garg is the heartbeat of Assam and does not belong to any one person.”

The electoral contest in Assam is intensifying amid accusations and counter-accusations between the BJP and Congress.

Patna, October 6  Following the announcement of the Bihar Assembly election dates, Leader of the Opposition and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav shared an emotional message on Monday. In this message, he described November 14, 2025, as the beginning of a bright future, change, and development for Bihar. Through this post, he appealed to the people of Bihar to work together to form a Grand Alliance government in the upcoming assembly elections.

Addressing the people of Bihar on the social media platform X, Tejashwi Yadav wrote in a post, “November 14, 2025, we must all remember this date. Whenever the pages of history are turned in the future, this date will forever be written in golden letters as the beginning of Bihar’s bright future, transformation, development, and progress. The trumpet of change has been sounded, the victory of the people has been announced. Now, every Bihari must gather all their heart and energy and unite to form a Grand Alliance government.”

He said that Bihar, eager for change, will vote for change after 20 years. This time, in the state with the largest youth population in the country, youth will vote to end unemployment. Not a single household in Bihar will remain without a youth. Tejashwi will provide government jobs to everyone. What the NDA government could not do in 17 years, we have done in 17 months. What this government could not do in 20 years, we will do in 20 months. With everyone’s cooperation, we will build a better, developed, and new Bihar.

Tejasvi questioned what Bihar has endured for 20 years. Sorrow, pain, wounds, crime, violence, hooliganism, murder, robbery, theft, rape, horrific crimes like the Muzaffarpur shelter home incident, bribery, corruption, over 100 scams, usurpation, hooliganism over interest and loans by microfinance companies, paper leaks, conspiracies, mandate theft, lathicharges, slaps, insults, indecent remarks against women, migration, unemployment, inflation, floods, droughts, lightning, hailstorms, evil eyes, misgovernance, dilapidated hospitals and schools, negligence in patient treatment, cybercrime, land grabbing, acid attacks, degree fraud, bridge collapses, road collapses, building collapses, vote theft, bragging, bureaucracy, dictatorship, jungle raj, and who knows what other calamities?

He said that for 20 years, Bihar has been battling these calamities, hoping that one day they will all end, but unfortunately, not even for a single day in the past 20 years have the people of Bihar experienced relief from these troubles. The only solution to this is to rid themselves of this dilapidated, incompetent, useless, ruthless, dilapidated, disorganized, inactive, corrupt, and dictatorial government. After 20 years, this opportunity has been presented once again, and Bihar will not let it slip away. Every voter is eager for change, everyone wants a Grand Alliance government. They want a Chief Minister with youthful enthusiasm, courageous, energetic, visionary, fearless, bold, self-respecting, principled, cultured, socialist, who fights for the rights of the poor, Dalits, the exploited, and the deprived, and who possesses the ability to achieve super-fast development.

Indirectly targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi further said that Bihar needs a Chief Minister who is not unconscious, in a debilitating state, or suffering from various mental illnesses. A Chief Minister who doesn’t beg with folded hands, but rather knows how to roar like a lion for Bihar’s rights, one whose challenge is so powerful that criminals tremble, whose roar is so powerful that it wipes out corruption, and whose willpower is so powerful that it can fulfill Bihar’s dreams of employment, happiness, prosperity, and peace. I thank all the people of Bihar and assure you that with the formation of your and our government, Bihar will begin writing a new glorious saga of change from day one.

He further said that today is not just the announcement of election dates, but the beginning of Bihar’s celebration. This celebration should not stop. After Diwali and Chhath Puja, Bihar’s twenty-year wait will end. After 20 years, such a grand festival will come that will dispel all sorrows and sufferings. On that day, every Bihari will embrace victory with Tejashwi, because on that day, every Bihari will become the Chief Minister of Bihar, meaning a change maker… the destiny maker of a new Bihar.

Tianjin: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned India’s thinking and policy at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, China. He said that India’s thinking and policy is based on ‘S- Security, C- Connectivity and O- Opportunity’.
PM Modi said in the SCO meeting, “I am happy to participate in the SCO summit. I want to thank President Xi Jinping for our grand welcome. Today is the Independence Day of Uzbekistan. I also congratulate him.”
Referring to the SCO, he said, “India has played a very positive role as a member of the SCO. India’s vision and policy for the SCO is based on three important pillars, which include S- Security, C- Connectivity and O- Opportunity.”
He said, “The first pillar is security. Security, peace and stability are the basis of progress and development of any country. But, major threats like terrorism and separatism hinder the achievement of these goals. Terrorism is not only a threat to the security of individual countries, but it is a serious challenge for the entire humanity.”
In addition, Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin on Monday.
During this, while addressing the member countries, he emphasized the progress and future direction of the organization. He said that the SCO has achieved historic successes in its development and cooperation, which reflects its strength.

Let us tell you that China is hosting the SCO summit this year. The group consists of eight member countries and its focus is on political, economic and security cooperation in the Eurasian region. This is the first time Prime Minister Modi has visited China in seven years, which is particularly significant amid the complicated bilateral relations between India and China following the 2020 border dispute.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clear message to the world amid US tariff threats that he stands as a shield for farmers and India will never compromise on their interests. Addressing the countrymen from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of 79th Independence Day, the Prime Minister said that India’s farmers, livestock farmers and fishermen are our biggest priority.

Prime Minister Modi paid an emotional tribute to India’s farmers, calling them the basis of the nation’s journey from dependence to self-reliance. He recalled how colonial rule had made the country poor, but it was the tireless efforts of the farmers that filled India’s food reserves and secured the nation’s food sovereignty.

In his Independence Day speech, the Prime Minister said that agriculture is the cornerstone of India’s development. India today ranks number 1 in the world in milk, pulses and jute production, while it ranks number 2 in the production of rice, wheat, cotton, fruits and vegetables. India’s agricultural exports have crossed the Rs 4 lakh crore mark, reflecting the country’s strength in global competition.

He declared, “Modi will always stand as a wall of protection for farmers, fishermen and livestock farmers.”

Prime Minister Modi praised the strength of the farmer and said that whether small farmers, livestock farmers, or fishermen, all are benefiting from several development schemes. He said, “Initiatives like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, rainwater harvesting, irrigation projects, quality seed distribution and timely fertilizer supply have together increased the confidence of farmers across the country.”

He ended this part of his address with a resolution. Reiterating his commitment, he said, “Modi stands as a wall in front of any detrimental policy related to India’s farmers, livestock farmers and fishermen. India will not compromise with the interests of its farmers.”

This speech of PM Narendra Modi is being seen as a message to the US, which recently imposed a 50 percent tariff on India. The US wanted to go ahead with the trade deal in an attempt to gain access to India’s agriculture and dairy sector. However, India flatly refused the deal. This infuriated US President Donald Trump and announced a 50 percent tariff on India. Despite this tariff threat from the US, India is still firm on its decision.

New Delhi: While opposition party leaders are attacking the Election Commission and the BJP over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar and alleged ‘vote theft’, now BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya hit back and made a big claim on Wednesday. He said that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had become a voter here even before becoming an Indian citizen.

Amit Malviya claimed in a post on social media platform X, “Sonia Gandhi’s relationship with the voter list of India is full of gross violations of electoral laws. Perhaps this is the reason why Rahul Gandhi is in favor of regularizing ineligible and illegal voters and opposes SIR.”

According to Malviya, “Sonia Gandhi’s name was first added to the voter list in 1980, while at that time she had Italian citizenship and was not a citizen of India. At that time, the Gandhi family lived at 1, Safdarjung Road, the official residence of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Till that time, the registered voters at that address were Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi.”

He said the voter list of New Delhi parliamentary constituency was revised with January 1, 1980 as the eligibility date. During this revision, Sonia Gandhi’s name was added at serial number 388 of polling station 145.

“This entry is a clear violation of the law that makes Indian citizenship mandatory for voter registration. After massive protests in 1982, her name was deleted, but it was added again in 1983,” Malviya alleged.

Malviya said that in the fresh revision that year, Sonia Gandhi’s name was entered at serial number 236 in polling station 140 with January 1, 1983 as the eligibility date, even though she got Indian citizenship only on April 30, 1983.

He said, “Sonia Gandhi’s name appeared twice in the voter list without fulfilling the basic citizenship requirement, first in 1980 as an Italian citizen and then in 1983 a few months before she legally became an Indian citizen.”

Malviya also questioned why it took her 15 years to accept Indian citizenship after marrying Rajiv Gandhi. He shared an excerpt of the 1980 voter list with his post and asked, “If this is not gross electoral malpractice, then what it is?”
