CBI registers case against former Maharashtra Home Minister, raids on several locations

Mumbai | The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said on Saturday that the agency has registered a case against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and several others, moving forward in its investigation into allegations of misuse of office and corruption. The investigating agency is conducting searches at several places here. “The CBI has lodged an FIR against Deshmukh in connection with the allegations of corruption, and searches are going on at various places,” a CBI source associated with the investigation told.
The source said that the agency has named Anil Deshmukh and several others in the FIR.

However, the source did not disclose the premises being searched by the CBI.

The Bombay High Court had on 6 April asked the CBI to investigate allegations of bribery and misuse of office.

Soon after the court’s decision, Deshmukh stepped down from his post.
