Central Kiev is shaking with the sound of explosives

Kiev| Two explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Friday, as the Russian special military operation against Ukraine entered its second day.

Xinhua news agency quoted Interfax-Ukraine news agency as saying that there was no air strike warning at the time of the blasts, which has not yet been confirmed by local authorities.

Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko wrote in a telegram that he had just heard two powerful explosions. Mayor Vitaly Klitschko tweeted that three people were injured, one in critical condition, after a missile struck a residential building.

He also posted a picture showing a broken wall of a building and emergency services at the scene.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved “a special military operation” in the Donbass and Ukraine confirmed that there were attacks on military installations across the country.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian airfields, command posts, naval bases and radar stations are among the facilities destroyed.
