Beijing, March 31 China has appealed to the US and Israel to immediately halt the ongoing aggression against Iran. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said it urges all parties to cease military action and maintain peace.
China also regretted the damage to nuclear plants and 133 historical sites. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presented the government’s position at a press briefing on Tuesday.
He said, “The world’s cultural heritage is a priceless asset for all humanity. China deeply regrets that Iran’s cultural relics and monuments were damaged during the conflict.” China also condemned the attacks on nuclear facilities, saying such actions are extremely dangerous.
Beijing said it will continue diplomatic efforts to restore peace. Ning said, “China urges the US and Israel to immediately and completely cease military action, immediately engage in dialogue, and expeditiously end this conflict, which we believe should never have happened.”
It has been 32 days since the conflict began on February 28 with a joint US-Israeli air strike on Iran. During this period, attacks have continued from both sides. The US and Israel continue to heavily bomb Tehran and Isfahan, while Iran is targeting Israeli cities and US air bases and facilities in the Gulf countries with its missiles. Iran has lost several top leaders and military officials, including its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, in this horrific conflict.
Meanwhile, US President Trump has threatened to destroy Iran’s main oil export hub and energy infrastructure if a deal is not reached soon.
