New Delhi, February 20 Rekha Gupta took oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. On this occasion, six MLAs including Pravesh Verma were sworn in as ministers. After taking oath as ministers, Pravesh Verma, while talking to news agency IANS, said that cleaning Yamuna is his priority.
Pravesh Verma said that cleaning Yamuna river is the most important among the priorities of the Delhi government and it is a big resolution of his government. He said, “Our biggest resolution is cleaning Yamuna. This is our responsibility and we will fulfill it. We will clean Yamuna completely and will leave no stone unturned in this.”
He said that very important decisions will be taken in the first cabinet meeting, which will help in the development of Delhi according to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He assured to speed up the development of Delhi under the guidance of the Prime Minister.
Six MLAs took oath as ministers along with Rekha Gupta as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena first administered the oath to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, followed by Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, Pankaj Kumar Singh and Ravinder Inder Singh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states were also present on the main stage at the swearing-in ceremony. Religious leaders and special guests were present on the second stage, while artists associated with the musical programme were present on the third stage.
Rekha Gupta was elected Chief Minister in the BJP Legislature Party meeting held on Wednesday evening. She had told the media that her priority would be to fulfill the vision given by PM Modi for the people of Delhi.
Rekha Gupta has been elected MLA for the first time from Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh seat. She defeated AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a margin of 29,595 votes.
