Delhi is all set to host the Final NTPC National Ranking Archery Tournament

New Delhi: Archery’s most prestigious domestic series – NTPC National Ranking Archery Tournament (NRAT)-2022 is all set to conclude this weekend at DDA Yamuna Sports Complex, Surajmal Vihar, Delhi. The preliminary elimination rounds of the event will be held on February 10, 2023 and the final rounds of the compound and recurve events will be staged on February 11 and February 12, 2023 respectively. The competition schedule is attached. 

Delhi Archery Association (DAA) has been given the onerous opportunity to host this event by the Archery Association of India (AAI). DAA has put all-out efforts to provide world-class facilities to the participants for their comfortable stay and event.  

The NTPC National Ranking Archery Tournament features Senior, Junior & Sub-Junior (Cadet) Recurve and Compound Archery Competitions for both men and women.

Only 32 season’s best Senior, Junior & Sub-Junior Archers, eight in each of the four categories (Recurve Men, Recurve Women, Compound Men & Compound Women) totaling 96 Archers got selected for the finals taking into their superb performance in the four legs of the domestic circuit held from January, 2022 to October, 2022 at Hyderabad (Telangana), Saraikela (Jharkhand), Amaravati (Maharashtra) and Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh). Along with the list of eligible archers, details of podium finishers in the four stages of this year’s NRAT are also enclosed.

The quantum leap in the performance shown by Indian Archers in International competitions including World Championships and Asian Games can be attributed to a large extent to National Ranking Archery Circuit Tournaments which was started in 2002

 Shri Arjun Munda ji, President of the Archery Association of India and Union Tribal Minister, Govt.of India who is also the President of Archery Association of India will inaugurate the event on 10th February, 2023 at 08.30 AM whereas Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena has consented to give away prizes to the winners on 12th February, 2023 along with other high dignitaries.

The below points make this event unique  –

 All the participants of the Final NTPC NRAT will be awarded a total cash prize of Rs.50 lakhs under the support of NTPC which is double the cash incentives given in the last edition conducted at Red Fort in 2014. A total cash incentive of Rs 40 lakhs has already been distributed at the rate of Rs 10 lakh each in four ranking tournaments. In this way, the total cash incentive distributed in a year becomes 90 lakhs;

The Archery Association of India is organizing a day-night event under floodlights for the first time;

Four archers – Aditi Gopichand Swamy, Preneet Kaur, Bhajan Kaur and Kushal Dalal are competing in all three age groups – Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior. Four archers are common in Junior and Sub-junior categories while eleven Archers are in both the Senior and Junior categories which shows that our Sub-Junior and Junior archers are performing very well and giving tough competition to Seniors;

Applying the same rules of World Archery for the World Cup Finals, a draw of matches would be conducted for the final NTPC NRAT.  The official draw will take place on 9th February, 2023 (evening) in the presence of all the participants.
