Delhi will shortly launch an App to consolidate all skill trainees for getting jobs: LG Delhi

New Delhi: Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Education, Government of India Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena distributed the Certificates to 50 Trainees for Skill Training in a ‘Certificate Distribution Ceremony’ organised by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)at NDCC Convention Centre, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi today. 1000 out of 25,000 who’s training was launched on 05.08.2022 got certificates today upon completion of training.

After distributing the certificates and congratulating all trainees, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, the initiative is another effort taken by the NSDC and NDMC, under the guidance of Lt. Governor– Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, to make India a 5 trillion-dollar economy. This will play a crucial role in making India self-reliant by making the entire workforce capable of contributing to nation-building.

Shri Pradhan further said that as our country celebrates Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of independence, there is an urgent need to reskill and upskill our youth to make them capable of shouldering the demands of the changing job market, especially at the time of disruptive technology like Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He urged to the LG-Delhi, Chief Secretary and NDMC other civic bodies should make Delhi as a Model Skill Capital of India by setting up of 100 Skill Training Centers.

While Congratulating to all 1000 Skilled Trainees in different sectors, Hon’ble LG- Delhi, Shri Saxena hoped that the certificates of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Programme will play a important role to change the life of trainees and help to earn more money for their living. He quoted two examples of Skill Development in the Community of Cobblers and Potters. And said that under the Khadi & Village Industrial Corporation (KVIC), an upskilling training programme for the cobblers who earn daily not more than Rs. 200 but after getting training they are able to earn Rs. 500 – 700 daily. He further quoted the examples of potters who engaged in their family business and making only one product but after training they can earn more by making 4-5 products. Altogether 75,000 artisans/semi skilled workers from the unorganized sector to be trained.

Shri Saxena stressed upon the Skill Development for unorganized sectors workers and traditional artisans and quoted from the ‘Man Ki Baat’ of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in which he said Skill India is a holistic approach towards enabling a robust skill development system. He informed that very shortly an App will be launched to consolidate all skilled trainees on a single platform for accessing by clients requiring different services. Shri Saxena informed that the number of trainees from different professions will be enhanced to 75,000 from the current 25,000 and thanked Shri Dharmendra Pradhan for his support and guidance.

LG-Delhi also urged women to come forward and join the up skilling programme for getting training in any field for empowerment and earn more with their prior learning after recognition.

In his welcome address Chairman NDMC – Shri Bhupinder Singh Bhalla said that NDMC has taken joint initiative for Up Skilling Programme in collaboration with Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Shri Bhalla informed that the Training Programme was launched in first week of August by Hon’ble Lt. Governor – Delhi at Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra, Mandir Marg, New Delhi. The Skill Training was held from 05th to 27thAugust, 2022 for approximately 1000 persons under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Programme. Today, out of these 1000 trainees 50 trainees received the certificates in the Ceremony. He further said that under the 75th anniversary year of India’s Independence, NDMC is being imparting training to 25000 persons in Phase-I under a set target.

On the occasion, Chief Secretary – Govt. of NCT of Delhi Shri Naresh Kumar, Secretary – Ministry of Skill Development, Govt. of India Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Chief Operating Officer of National Skill Development Corporation – Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, Member NDMC, Shri Girish Sachdeva, Secretary NDMC, Shri Vikram Singh Malik and Senior Officers were also present.
