NEW DELHI| The farmers’ agitation continues on the 19th day in protest against the three new agricultural laws implemented by the central government and the leaders of various farmers unions are sitting on a day’s hunger strike. Darshan Pal Singh, state president of the Revolutionary Farmers Union in Punjab, told that the leaders of all the peasant organizations involved in the Samyukta Kisan Morcha would sit on hunger strike on the borders of Delhi from 8 am to 5 pm today (Monday). Apart from this, he said that there is an organized protest demonstration at district headquarters across the country. Darshan Pal Singh said that the people of the peasant organizations will protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies across the country and take out a protest against them.
He said that the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway was completely blocked on Sunday on the call of farmer leaders. After that half was left at night, but the jam would still be done today.
Farmers are camping at Delhi’s Singhu Border, Tikari Border and Ghazipur Border despite the bitter cold over other demands, including the withdrawal of new agricultural laws, and a call is being given to intensify agitation from the Kisan Sangathans.
On the other hand, there is a continuous effort from the government to persuade the farmers and end the agitation, but there is a deadlock on the issue of the demand for the repeal of the three agricultural laws by the farmer’s organizations.
Leaders of farmer organizations repeal three new laws implemented by the central government – Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Agreement Act 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
