Four year-old child reunited with his parents within 03 hours and in a separate operation, one proclaimed offender arrested

New Delhi: The staff of Police Station Mandir Marg found a 04-year-old child at Panchkuian Road, Mandir Marg, New Delhi. The child was separated from his parents and was not able to give details of his parents/whereabouts.  Concerted efforts were made by the police to trace family of the child. Ultimately, the efforts yielded result and the police team succeeded in reuniting the child with his family.

In a separate operation, Police Station Mandir Marg, New Delhi District has arrested one proclaimed offender (PO) namely Surender Singh s/o Sh. Harkesh r/o Village: Talu, Police Station & District: Bhiwani, Haryana, Age-45 years. The accused was declared P.O. in case FIR No. 695/2005, u/s 406/420 IPC, PS Connaught Place, New Delhi.

On 25.03.2022, at about 2:30 PM, ASI Sahansarpal found a child aged about 04 years, while on duty at Guru Munni Akhada Picket, Panchkuian Road, Mandir Marg, New Delhi. The child was separated from his parents and was weeping inconsolably. He was immediately served water and snacks to provide relief. The child was then taken to the Police Station Mandir Marg and was asked about his parents/family but the child was not able to reveal anything. He was kept under the care of female staff of PS Mandir Marg and a team comprising of W/SI Rajni, ASI Sahansarpal, HC Sarwan, Ct. Makhan & W/Ct. Sonam was constituted to trace the family of the child. The team worked under close supervision of Inspr. Satvinder Singh, SHO/PS Mandir Marg and overall supervision of Sh. Vinay Mathur, ACP/Connaught Place. The child’s photograph was immediately shared with adjoining Police Stations i.e. Karol Bagh, Rajender Nagar, Connaught Place and Paharganj and in various WhatsApp group of RWA/MWA. The nearby residential areas including Aram Bagh Jhuggi, Paharganj and Balmiki Basti, Mandir Marg, New Delhi were also checked.

After sometime, the child became comfortable due to friendly environment provided by the police and revealed his name as Keshav and his parents’ names as Mukesh Gupta and Arti. In the meantime, information was received from Police Station Paharganj that parents of a missing child have approached them. Acting on this input, the team reached Police Station Paharganj, where the child identified his parents and vice versa. After proper identification, the child was handed over to his parents. The prompt action taken by Police Station Mandir Marg resulted in the child being reunited with his parents within 03 hours.

A case of cheating was registered at PS Connaught Place vide FIR No. 695/2005, u/s 406/420 IPC on the complaint of Sushil Bhardwaj (Kotak Mahindra Finance). After completion of investigation, chargesheet of the case was filed. During trial of the case, accused Surender Singh didn’t attend the court and intentionally avoided judicial proceedings. Subsequently, he was declared proclaimed offender on 08.02.2010 by the Hon’ble Court of Sh. Jitender Mishra, Ld. MM, Patiala House Court, New Delhi.

A dedicated team comprising of SI Jai Singh, ASI Inder Singh, HC Sarwandeep & HC Ravinder Kumar was constituted under close supervision of Inspr. Satvinder Singh, SHO/PS Mandir Marg and overall supervision of Sh. Vinay Mathur, ACP/Connaught Place to nab proclaimed offender. The team made strenuous efforts and collected secret information. On 25.03.2022, based on secret information and regular surveillance, the team arrested Surender Singh s/o Harkesh from his residence in Village: Talu, Police Station & District: Bhiwani, Haryana.
