German envoy met Haryana Chief Minister, discussed cooperation

Chandigarh| German Ambassador to India Walter J. Lindner met Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday and discussed a range of issues, including climate change and cooperation. Lindner inquired about welfare schemes with special reference to family identity cards and crop diversification schemes.

Detailing about the Parivar Pehchan Patra scheme, the Chief Minister said that a system has been created to identify each family as a unit so that it can take direct benefits of the government schemes.

He said that the government is promoting less water-consuming crops under the Crop Diversification Scheme. This is also helping the farmers to increase their income.

The envoy expressed concern over the situation of COVID-19 in the country and the State, to which the Chief Minister replied that the situation in the State was managed professionally, especially during the second wave.

The second wave consists of various measures such as mapping the initial state of the epidemic, maintaining adequate oxygen supply in hospitals, setting up of temporary hospitals, financial assistance to get patients treated in private hospitals, adequate supply of food, saving of medicines and essential life. Initiatives were taken.

Khattar said that we have been able to create a cohesive system to deal with the crisis within the state and we have also extended help to neighboring states during the pandemic.

Responding to the steps taken to limit climate change, the Chief Minister said that the government is working towards alternative sources of power generation like solar energy, especially in the southern parts of the state.

Lindner assured the Chief Minister that the development efforts and other exchange programs would be fully supported and supported by Germany.
