Gujarat CM Rupani resigned before the end of the term

Gandhinagar | A big political development has been seen in Gujarat. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday submitted his resignation to Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat at his residence in Gandhinagar, Raj Bhavan. The BJP leader confirmed that he has resigned from the top post.

Vijay Rupani told reporters at Raj Bhavan, I am resigning from the post of Chief Minister. I thank PM Modi and the party for giving me a chance to work for five years.

When asked who would be the face for the election, Rupani said, “I am just a worker of the organization and will continue to be so.” Definitely, our PM Modi will be the face for the upcoming state assembly elections.

He said, whatever responsibility the party gives me, I will accept it.

Vijay Rupani took over as the Chief Minister of the state on 7 August 2016 and is representing Rajkot West in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Sources revealed that the party will announce the name for the CM by Sunday. He is most likely to be replaced by Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.
