‘I spoke to 27 European leaders, all are scared’: Ukraine’s president

New Delhi| Ukraine’s president says Kiev has been left alone to defend itself because NATO is afraid to give it any guarantees. ‘I asked him – are you with us?’ said Volodymyr Zelensky. They replied that they are with us, but they do not want to take us in alliance.

“I have asked 27 leaders of Europe whether Ukraine will be in NATO, I have asked them directly – all are scared and they have not responded.”

The president said, “We are left alone. Who is ready to go to war for us? Honestly, I see no one. Who is ready to guarantee Ukraine’s NATO membership? To be honest, Everyone’s scared.”

Accusing Western countries of leaving Ukraine alone to face Moscow, President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday said he was not afraid to negotiate an end to the Russian “aggression”, but to do so with the security guarantee will be required.

Speaking from Kiev in the early hours of the morning, Zelensky said he had reached out to “partners” in the West to convey that Ukraine’s fate was at stake.

In an address on Friday, Zelensky said he was ready to talk about the possibility of a neutral position for Ukraine, but stressed that his country needed third-party guarantees.
