India takes a major leap forward in the semiconductor sector, PM Modi says, “Our role in the global supply chain is strengthening.”

Ahmedabad, March 31  India has taken another major step in the semiconductor sector in Sanand, Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Ken Semicon’s Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility here on Tuesday.

He said that India is now continuously strengthening its role as a reliable semiconductor supplier in the global market.

Prime Minister Modi recalled that in 2021, India launched the ‘India Semiconductor Mission’. This mission is not just an industrial policy, but a declaration of India’s self-confidence. Under this mission, 10 major projects worth ₹1.60 lakh crore are underway in six states.

Referring to recent achievements, PM Modi said that production began at Micron’s plant on February 28th, and now, on March 31st, production at Keynes Technology’s semiconductor plant has also begun. This is no coincidence, but a testament to the rapid development of India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

He expressed happiness that an Indian company has shown interest in semiconductor chip manufacturing, and today its results are visible. PM Modi said, “India’s own company, Keynes Technology, has now become a strong part of the global semiconductor supply chain. This is a great beginning and a proud moment for the country.”

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that in the future, many Indian companies will play a key role in providing a strong semiconductor supply chain to the world through global collaboration. Today truly embodies the vision of “Make in India, Make for the World.”

PM Modi also said that the 21st century is not just a time of economic competition, but an era of shaping the technology of the future. India is no longer just witnessing change, but is moving forward with the resolve to lead it.

He said that the technology initiatives India is taking in this decade will further strengthen the country’s global leadership in the decades to come.
