NDMC organises interactive virtual workshop for Citizen Engagement and their motivation by Dr. Naresh Trehan

New Delhi In view of the raising cases of Covid-19 and its new Variant – Omicron, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is organizing interactive virtual workshop with their Brand Ambassadors Dr. Naresh Trehan and Ms. Deepa Malik for citizen Engagement and their motivation about Covid appropriate behavior changes.

The Chairman – NDMC, Shri Dharmendra and Secretary – NDMC  also attended today’s workshop.

Dr. Naresh Trehan enlightened the workshop on current status of Covid Pandemic with guidelines on Covid Appropriate Behaviour and treatement. He also explained the Proactive Role of Community as Sustainable Solution for Waste Management and Role of Segregation for Sustenance of waste reduction in present scenario .

While interacting with the participants Dr. Trehan said that it may be a misconception that the Omicron symptoms are mild and low grade. Now, scenario is changing, real time data shows that trend is going towards peak stages in six weeks so that next six weeks will be tough and crucial. He advised that the masking is the only defense, vaccination is helpful but not a shield and everyone should not escape from their precautionary shield.

The workshop was attended by the Representatives of Resident welfare Associations (RWAs), Market / Traders Associations (MTAs), Hotels and Clubs, Head of Schools (HoS), Frontline Supervisory Staff in Solid and liquid waste management and Medical Doctors (Allopathic, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic), all Head Of the Department (HoD’s) and other Senior Officers of NDMC.

The next virtual interactive session will be addressed by Ms. Deepa Malik tomorrow who is an Indian athlete. She is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Para Olympics. She won the silver medal in the shot put in 2016 Paralympic Games. She was previously honoured with the Arjuna award in 2012, at the age of 42 years. She has also been conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2017. She created a New Asian Record in Asian Para Games 2018 and is the only Indian woman to win medals in 3 consecutive Asian Para Games (2010, 2014, 2018). She has won 58 national & 23 International medals across all disciplines till date.
