New Zealand ready to manage coronavirus during the holiday season

WALLINGTON| New Zealand’s Coronavirus Response Minister Chris Hipkins on Tuesday unveiled a comprehensive ‘All of Government’ plan aimed at managing the epidemic during the upcoming holiday season. The Sinhua news agency quoted Hipkins’ statement as saying, “Since March, New Zealand has strengthened and developed its ability to respond to coronaviruses.”

Improved testing and contact tracing capabilities mean that we have had epidemics here since the Auckland August cluster, which we have managed successfully without changing the alert level.

“With this, we know that the virus outbreak continues and despite our best efforts, there is always a possibility of community affairs here,” the minister said.

“The duration of the holiday remains a challenge for us, as a large number of people will travel during this time, as well as attend more social functions,” he said.

He further stated that New Zealand supports a strategy of eradication to manage any community matters during the holidays
