New Delhi| Countering the allegations of Congress adjourning the Parliament session ahead of schedule fearing discussion on inflation, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the Parliament session has been adjourned a day earlier only on the request of the opposition. He said that the opposition has nothing left to say, so they are making such baseless allegations.
Responding to the allegation of the opposition parties of not holding a discussion on inflation, the Union Minister said that whatever issue the opposition demanded for discussion, the government got it done and as far as inflation is concerned, the ministers from the government side on this issue too. Responded several times inside Parliament.
Speaking to the media after the conclusion of the budget session of Parliament and the indefinite adjournment of both the Houses, Pralhad Joshi said that the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Business Advisory Committee meeting adjourned the House to April 7 on account of Ram Navami and other festivals. had requested. He told that Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh had made this request. Hitting out at the opposition parties, Joshi said that the request to adjourn the House first inside the room and then come out and make rhetoric, it is not right.
Responding to a question about the opposition parties’ charge of not holding a discussion on inflation, Joshi said the issue of inflation was raised several times by the opposition parties in Parliament on the budget, on the demands for grants of various ministries and on Ukraine. And on behalf of the government, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and other ministers also responded during discussions on various issues. Raising the question, he asked that the Congress and other opposition parties should also tell how much tax their state governments had reduced on petrol and diesel, when the BJP governments had cut taxes to give relief to the public.
Describing the business in the budget session of Parliament, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Joshi said that 10 sittings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were held during the first phase of the session and 17 during the second phase i.e. 27 sittings in total. 13 Bills were passed by Lok Sabha and 11 by Rajya Sabha during the session.
A total of 11 bills including Finance Bill 2022, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2022, Criminal Procedure (Identity) Bill 2022 and Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation Bill 2022 were passed by both the houses in this session.
During the budget session, 129 per cent business was done in Lok Sabha and 98 per cent in Rajya Sabha.
