PM Modi formulated a strategy to prevent the threat of cyclonic storms in the coastal states

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed to take caution on Sunday by taking a high-level meeting amid warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department about the cyclone named ‘Taukate’. Due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Lakshadweep Islands and the Arabian Sea, a powerful cyclonic storm is expected to hit the coasts of the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa and Kerala. The Indian Meteorological Department said that the storm may hit at a speed of 175 km per hour on the Porbandar coast of Gujarat on 18 May. Coastal districts of Gujarat may receive heavy rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department is issuing bulletins continuously from May 13 to the respective states. The cabinet secretary is in touch with the chief secretaries of all coastal states and the respective central ministries. The Home Ministry is constantly monitoring the situation for 24 hours and is in touch with the states.

The teams of SDRF and NDRF have been activated. The Indian Coast Guard and Navy have been deployed to monitor ships and helicopters. Engineer Task Force of Airforce, Army has also been kept ready. Emphasis was laid on getting people out of dangerous places. The Prime Minister asked to monitor facilities like electricity, communication, health, drinking water, etc.
