Punjab Agriculture Department approved filling up 359 vacancies

Chandigarh | The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Friday approved filling up 359 vacant posts by direct recruitment in various cadres of the technical side in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. A spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that there is an acute shortage of officers and staff in the department, which has badly affected its functioning.

These posts including 200 Agriculture Development Officers, 150 Agriculture Sub-Inspectors and nine Laboratory Assistants will be filled without any restructuring.

Filling up these posts will help the department in the smooth implementation of the schemes and distribution of facilities to the farmers without any hassle.

The cabinet also approved the filling up of 80 posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-Judicial Magistrate through Punjab and Haryana High Court.

This decision will help in expediting the process of recruitment of new judicial officers to ensure speedy distribution of work in subordinate courts.

Meanwhile, in order to provide efficient animal health services in 582 veterinary hospitals, the Cabinet gave ex-post facto approval for the continuation of services of service providers, 497 veterinary pharmacists, and 498 Class IV or Safai Sevaks, already on April 1.
