Sensex gained 250 points due to strong foreign cues, Nifty at 11,500

MUMBAI The domestic stock market remained strong during early trading on Tuesday due to strong signals from foreign markets. The Sensex gained over 250 points and the Nifty was trading at 11,500 with an increase. The Sensex was trading at 38,955.59, up 198.96 points or 0.51 percent from the previous session at 9.45 am while the Nifty was up 60.80 points or 0.53 percent at 11,500.85 from the previous session.

The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) based major Sensex Sensex opened with a gain of 148.04 points at 38,904.67 and surged to 39,013.06 as compared to the previous session while the Sensex closed at 38,847.70 in early trade.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty, a major sensitive index based on 50 stocks, also opened with a gain of 47.15 points at 11,487.20 and a rise to 11,510.55 as compared to the previous session, while the Nifty closed at 11,462.70 in early trade.

Market watchers said the stock market was upbeat on positive signs from Wall Street. The US market closed strongly in the last session, due to which the Asian markets remained strong on Tuesday.
