Smt Lekhi visits and motivates JJ Cluster area Residents about the Swachhata and Say ‘No to Single Use Plastic’.

New Delhi:In continuation of the celebrations of Indian Independence as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Govt. of India, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi visited and motivated the residents especially children of slum area of New Delhi on the theme of ‘Health is Wealth’ at JJ Cluster of Sanjay Camp (Opposite Singapore Park), Chanakyapuri, New Delhi today.

After inaugurating the Bartan Bhandar for the community programmes, she distributed 50 steel plates and kuladhs as inaugural gift provided by Sarojini Nagar Market association to avoid the use of single-use plastic utensils at Sanjay Camp.

While addressing the hundreds of Children, women and men of the cluster area, Smt. Lekhi stressed upon the personal hygiene maintenance, segregation of waste at source, maintenance of clean surroundings, discourage single use plastic and menstrual hygiene practice for women by usage of sanitary napkins in daily routine life.

Minister of State- Smt Lekhi motivated the Children about the Swachhata and their role in elimination of Single Use Plastic in their area. She also distributed study kit in Jute bags with stationary items to children which were provided by the workers as well as NDMC Officers to motivate them to study. To Motivate the use of sanitary napkins amongst the women of cluster area, Smt. Lekhi distributed the Sanitary Napkins to them in the Sanjay camp.

This program was organised by the Public Health Department of NDMC. On the occasion, besides the NDMC-MOH, Dr. Ramesh, Area CMO- Dr. Gunjan Sahai, CMO (Project)- Dr. Shakuntala Srivastva and SMO – Dr. Vijay Patel were also present.
