Veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee died on Sunday. The announcement was made by the Medical Board of a hospital in Kolkata, where he was admitted for more than a month. He was 85. The Bulletin of Belle View Hospital in Kolkata said, “We announce with great heart that Mr. Soumitra Chattopadhyay breathed his last today (15 November 2020) at 12.15 pm at Belle View Clinic. We pay tribute to his soul.”

Chatterjee’s health condition was very serious. Critical care specialist and medical board head Arindam Kar had already said that the treatment was not affecting him, he was not responding.

The veteran actor’s health condition has been extremely poor since Friday.

“The team of doctors, including neurologists, nephrologists, cardiologists, who are critical care medicine, infection pathologists, both from the public and private sectors, everyone is a veteran Trying to get it back from the stage, but it’s not working. ”

He had said that the doctors have tried really hard to get Soumitra in better condition. He had said, “We are very sorry to say that he is not responding.”

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner was admitted to the ICU of Belle View Hospital in Kolkata about 40 days ago and his health level had dropped significantly since Friday. The senior actor’s condition became worrisome due to his other illnesses and old age. The doctor said that he had a major problem with Kovid-19 encephalopathy.

Saumitra Chatterjee’s coronavirus test positive came on 5 October.

He was shooting a documentary called ‘Abhijan’ directed by actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay. The last time he visited for the shooting was at Bharatalakshmi Studio on 1 October.
