The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has also started working after the Indian government ordered hundreds of military equipment to be made in India itself. The Defense Minister’s Office said on Monday that a DRDO delegation met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him of about 108 systems and subsystems identified only by the Indian industry for design and development.
On behalf of the Defense Minister’s office, it was said, ‘DRDO will provide its support to the industries in this development process. This initiative will pave the way for the Indian defense industry to develop several technologies towards building a self-reliant India.
Explain that in the same month, the central government had banned the import of 101 items related to the army with the aim of increasing self-reliance in the defense sector. The list also includes artillery guns, assault rifles, transport aircraft, radars, and other items. While announcing this, India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that this ban will be implemented in a phased manner between December 2020 to December 2025.
