Ekta Nagar, Sept. 22 The 72nd National Film Awards were held in Kevadia, Gujarat, on Tuesday. President Draupadi Murmu presented the National Award to actress Yami Gautam for ‘Article 370’ and actor Kartik Aaryan for ‘Chandu Champion’.
Actor Kartik Aaryan arrived with his parents to receive the National Award for Best Actor. Actress Yami Gautam arrived with her husband, Aditya Dhar.
The Hindi film ‘Article 370’ won the Best Feature Film award. Producer Aditya Dhar received the award. Randeep Hooda received the Best Debut Film of a Director award for the Hindi film ‘Swatantra Veer Savarkar’.
The Telugu film “Kalki 2898 AD” won the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin.
Speaking of the National Awards, President Draupadi Murmu presented the National Award for Best Direction (Non-Feature) to Anand L. Rai for “Statue of Unity: A Symbol of Unity.” The Telugu film “Kammitti Kurrolu” won the Best Telugu Feature Film award.
Mammootty received the Best Actor award for the Malayalam film “Brahmayugam.” He shared the award with Kartik Aaryan. Sanjay Mishra received the Best Supporting Actor award for the Hindi film “Bhakshak” at the 72nd National Film Awards. Veteran actor Anant Nag was presented with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Manoj Muntashir received the Best Lyricist award for the song “Jaane Do” from the Hindi film “Maidaan.” Vijay Ganguly received the Best Choreography Award for the song “Aaj Ki Raat” from the Hindi film “Stree 2.” Tamannaah Bhatia featured in the song.
The documentary “Ram Naami,” based on the Ramnami community of Chhattisgarh, received the Best Documentary Award. The documentary “Main Nida” received the Best Arts/Cultural Film Award. Manveer Jasrotia received the Best Editing Award for the Hindi film “NDA.”
Soundarya Jayachandran received the Best Voice Over Award for the English film “Little Planet: A Tale of Frogs.” Sanjeev Srivastava received the Best Film Critic Award. Director Dinesh Pundalik Bhosale received the Silver Lotus Award for Best Garhwali Film for his film “Dholi.”
The Tamil film “Raayan” received the Best Tamil Feature Film Award. Dhanush wrote and directed “Raayan,” and he also acted in the film.
Athish S. won the Kannada film “Mithya.” Shetty, Arundev Pothula for the Telugu film “35 Chinna Katha Kaadu,” and Riddhiman Banerjee, Tapomoy Deb, and Geetashree Chakraborty for the Bengali film “Onko Ki Kothin” received the Best Child Artist award.
Vaikom Vijayalakshmi received the Best Female Playback Singer award for the song “Angu Vana Konilu” from the Malayalam film “ARM.”
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “We are gathered near the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar for the National Film Awards. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the President for gracing and honoring this event. Many thanks to the jury. You all worked very hard. You watched so many films and had very detailed discussions. Thank you very much for all your efforts. It is an honor to receive a National Film Award. Anant Nag, who received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, was also present today. You have made a tremendous contribution to the film industry. He has worked in the world of cinema for more than five decades.”
Union Minister Vaishnav, regarding holding the ceremony outside Delhi, said, “Our goal is to reach all major tourist destinations in the country. The Statue of Unity is located here, so this time the ceremony is being held there. Next time, it will be held at another tourist destination. All states should select their best tourist locations and send them to us. One of these locations will be selected. When the stars arrive there, that location will also be promoted. This should not be seen as a political controversy. Our goal should be to promote ‘Nation First.'”
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that it is a matter of pride that the National Awards ceremony is being held in Ekta Nagar for the first time. Cinema is not just entertainment, but a reflection of society. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has gained recognition worldwide.
