Ranchi | Delhi’s Cyber Police has arrested six people, busting a gang of cyber criminals in Jamtara, Jharkhand. More than 20 thousand activated SIM cards have been recovered from them. These people were running fake call centers in Jamtara. According to the police, this gang has made a dent in the bank accounts of thousands of people across the country. Cybercrime police of Delhi’s Outer North District started investigating a complaint of fraudulent withdrawal of money from a bank account, and its connections were linked to Jamtara. After this, the Delhi Police team reached Jamtara and conducted raids and arrested six accused.
The 20,000 mobile SIMs that have been recovered from them were used to obtain bank account details and ATM PIN from people across the country on one pretext or the other. Cybercriminals used to stop using a SIM after cheating someone. It was not easy for the police to reach these criminals due to the use of a new SIM for every fraud.
Last week, when another team of Delhi Police reached to raid against cyber criminals, the gang members attacked the police and rescued a cyber thug.
Last month, cyber thugs from Jamtara had stolen Rs 2.50 lakh from the account of Calcutta High Court Chief Justice S Chaturvedi. In this case, the Kolkata Police, along with the Karmatand Police of Jamtara, arrested three cybercriminals Shiv Shankar Mandal, Mithun Mandal and Tapan Kumar Mandal while conducting raids.
