Government is focusing on the development of startups to promote innovation in the country. Union Minister

New Delhi, Oct 24 The Government of India is working under a plan to promote startups in the country. Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Dr. Chandrasekhar Pemmasani on Thursday said that the government is creating an ecosystem under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is conducive to the growth of businesses and startups.

Speaking at an event during ‘ITU-WTSA 2024’ in the national capital, the Union Minister said, “We are at a critical point where emerging technologies are laying the foundation of a new world”.

He further said, since the launch of the “Startup India, Standup India” initiative in 2015, India has become the third largest ecosystem for startups globally with over 1.12 lakh government-recognized startups.

He said, “Academic research and startups are finding solutions to problems across different industrial sectors.

The India 6G Alliance is an important platform bringing together industry leaders, academia, startups and the government to advance 6G innovation. The platform is working under the Innovate in India vision for India and the world.

The Union Minister advised the youth to start small but think big and act immediately.

“You don’t need all the resources in the world to start something, just conviction,” Dr Pemmasani told the attendees at the ‘Innovation Exchange’ event.

Many people wait for the right conditions or adequate funding, but the best time to start is now. Action creates momentum, and momentum fosters success,”

Madhu Arora, Technology Member, Digital Communications Commission, Department of Telecommunications, asked ITU to support India on 5G Intelligent Village and AI-led Digital Twins technology.

Dr Cosmas Lakison Jawajawa, Director, Bureau of Telecommunications Development (BDT), ITU, said it is important to remember that people decided to innovate because they wanted to improve the quality of life and open new doors of opportunities and choices.

“Technology is a tool. I urge everyone in the development sector to make better use of technology. Technology should be used to save humanity with food supply, medication and shelter,” he said.
