New Delhi, May 7 The Indian Army, Air Force and Ministry of External Affairs held a joint press briefing regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’, in which Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Indian Army Colonel Sofia Qureshi participated. Military officials also showed clips of the attack on terrorist hideouts.

In the press briefing, Colonel Sofia Qureshi said, “Operation Sindoor was launched to provide justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and destroyed. Terrorist infrastructure was being built in Pakistan for the last three decades, which is spread in both Pakistan and PoK.” Colonel Sofia Qureshi said, “I would like to tell you that the first target in PoJK was Sawai Nala Camp in Muzaffarabad, which is located 30 km from the Line of Control. It was the training center of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The terrorists involved in the attacks in Sonamarg on 20 October 2024, Gulmarg on 24 October 2024 and Pahalgam on 22 April 2025 received training from here.”

Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said, “The attack was carried out between 1:05 am and 1:30 am. Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to provide justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed. The locations were selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructure and to avoid loss of any civilian life.” Earlier, in a joint briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “On 22 April 2025, terrorists affiliated to Lashkar and Pakistan attacked tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir and killed 25 Indian nationals and 1 Nepali national. The terrorists shot the tourists in the head in front of their family members. During this, the family was threatened and asked to send a message of that barbarity. Since tourism was increasing again in Jammu and Kashmir, the main purpose of the attack was to harm it and incite riots.”
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “The attack in Pahalgam was extremely barbaric, in which the victims were shot in the head from very close range and killed in front of their families. The family members were deliberately killed in such a way that they should take back the message. This attack was clearly aimed at undermining the normal situation in Kashmir.”

He further said, “A group called Resistance Front has claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. This group is linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba. Pakistan’s involvement in this attack has been confirmed. The attack on Pahalgam was cowardly and the investigation into the Pahalgam attack has exposed Pakistan’s links with terrorists.”
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “Our intelligence agencies monitoring terrorist activities have indicated that there could be more attacks on India and it was considered necessary to prevent and deal with them.”
He said, “This morning, India exercised its right to reply to prevent cross-border terrorism. Our action was measured and non-escalated, proportionate and responsible. We focused on destroying the infrastructure of terrorists.”
At the beginning of this press briefing, a clip related to several attacks on India was also shown, including the 2001 Parliament attack, 2008 Mumbai terror attack, Uri, Pulwama and Pahalgam attack.
