18 killed in attack on Kabul’s educational center

KABUL| A suicide bomb attack outside an educational center in Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, has killed at least 18 people and injured dozens more. The BBC quoted the interior ministry as saying that a private educational center providing courses for students of higher education exploded late on Saturday night. This building in the Shish Muslim-dominated Dasht-e-Barchi area usually houses hundreds of students. The injured have been rushed to the hospital and the death toll is expected to increase.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for these attacks but provided no evidence. Earlier, the Taliban denied involvement in the attack.

“A suicide bomber wanted to enter the center. But he was detonated in a street after being identified by the security personnel,” Interior Ministry media spokesman Tariq Arian said in a statement to a major media outlet.
