Mumbai | Not even a month after the demise of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the entertainment industry is mourning the demise of the ‘disco king’. Bappi Lahiri passed away on Tuesday night at Criticare Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai due to multiple health issues. He was 69 years old.
The singer-composer was known for popularizing disco music in Bollywood. The veteran has given some incredible music in the 1980s-90s for films like ‘Sharaabi’, ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Disco Dancer’, ‘Namak Halal’ and many more. His last Bollywood song was ‘Bhankas’ for the 2020 film ‘Baaghi 3’.
Apart from his many hit songs, he was also known to wear gold chains, bracelets, rings and a watch.
The entire film industry and his fans are mourning the passing of Bappi Da.
Rapper Mika Singh also paid tribute to the legendary singer on his social media handle with a heavy heart and wrote, “Chalte Chalte, Mere Yeh Geet Yaad Rakna, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, The Legend, God of Dance Numbers, the great musician and singer who has worked in the industry. My all-time favorite Bappi Lahiri has sadly passed away, leaving us with some of his most beautiful music and memories. He will always be in our hearts.
” Had a chance to sing live together. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”
Armaan Malik also posted on his Instagram remembering his last meeting with him. “Last met him on June 28, 2021, we were recording a Bengali song together. Who knew this would be our last meeting, life is so unpredictable.”
Bollywood music composer Shamir Tandon considers himself fortunate to have worked with him and remembers giving a break to his grandson Rego B, who made his singing debut with Shamir’s music video ‘Bachcha Party’.
“I had the privilege of recording the voice of Bappi Da for a film by Suniel Shetty a decade back. But recently, I had the honor of giving a break and launching my own grandson Rego B.
