New Delhi: Celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and under the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s “Swachh Bharat Mission” New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to revamp aesthetic look to the kiosks situated in NDMC area informed by Vice Chairman, Shri Satish Upadhyay today.

Shri Upadhyay said that existing kiosks in NDMC area are 50 years old and it is necessary to redevelop all the kiosks to get a standard look to maintain the symmetry and beautification of the New Delhi area. He said in the first phase NDMC will redevelop 30 kiosks in a size of 6×6 feet to get a new aesthetic look and thereafter 200-250 kiosks redevelop to get a new aesthetic version.

These kiosks will be developed by complete RCC structure with terrazzo flooring and terrazzo wall with use of granite and tiles. These kiosks will be available with totally electrical fittings. The speciality of these kiosks is that they are totally maintenance free. Only through a normal washing it will be easily cleaned and it is not required any other special maintenance.

He further informed that the unique structure will not only have a good quality RCC stone but also provision of three side open kiosks. The NDMC built the first sample kiosk at Constitution Club at Rafi Marg and now redeveloped all the kiosks in this financial year. A provision of display panels has also been imposed on the outside of kiosks, so that the advertisement can be applied on it in the future, if required. The approximate cost of redevelopment of each kiosk is about 11 lakh rupees under Smart City Project.

Shri Upadhyay said Government of India has already announced Swacchta Bharat Mission during 2015-16 by Hon’ble Prime Minister. He said our aim is to beautify each and every corner of common area of New Delhi either it is kiosks, footpath, roads or beautification of parks & gardens. He said the motive of NDMC behind this is to achieve 5 Star to 7 Star ranking in forthcoming Swacchta Survekshan 2022 and therefore this initiative not only enhances the beautification of the New Delhi area but also give a unique, similar, standard and modern look to all its Kiosks.
