An important meeting of Congress started at Sonia’s house, many senior leaders present

NEW DELHI| At least 15 leaders have arrived at the residence of Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday for an important meeting. Among them are several of the 23 leaders who wrote letters to appoint an active president in the party. These leaders include Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Vivek Tankha, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Prithviraj Chauhan, Ambika Soni, Manish Tiwari, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Pawan Bansal, Harish Rawat, Anand Sharma, Shashi Tharoor, A.K. Antony and many other leaders are involved.

Apart from former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, veteran leader Ajay Maken has also reached 10, Janpath for the meeting.

This is the first meeting of the Congress after 23 senior leaders wrote letters to Sonia Gandhi demanding an active president. On Friday, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala had said that Sonia Gandhi was unable to meet in person for a long time due to the Covid-19 protocol.

Surjewala had said, “Now she has decided that from tomorrow she will start meeting on various organizational issues. So it is not her meeting with any particular group of leaders or dissidents or rebels but we want every leader and activist in our family Part of it. ”

He further said that the party has addressed the issues raised by some senior members of the party. “The process is on, all issues will be resolved with the announcement of the next election. There are no internal issues regarding any dissent within the party,” he said.

Surjewala said, “BJP keeps on campaigning like this sometimes. But we are a family and we will work together and we will work to strengthen the party.”
