ANRF fund of Rs 1 lakh crore should be used to increase innovation in the country: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, November 21 . Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday urged the industry to use the National Research Foundation (ANRF) fund of Rs 1 lakh crore to increase innovation and research ecosystem in the country.

Addressing the people at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) event in the national capital, Goyal said that under this government initiative, talented youth should also be made aware of the mindset of experimenting and developing new ideas.

Goyal said that this initiative will help India to develop research and development ecosystem and industry leaders will increase interest in it. He requested the participants to give suggestions to make the process of obtaining funds result-oriented and time efficient.

Goyal emphasised that initiatives taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi like Digital India, Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana-Saubhagya, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), Ayushman Bharat and others have brought about a rapid transformation in India.

The Union Minister lauded FICCI for having the “Excellence in Swachh Industrial Park” category in the awards for promoting cleanliness in industrial parks across the country and said that cleanliness is closely linked to economic growth, job creation and employment.

Goyal also urged the industry leaders to actively work with the government to decriminalise business-related regulations and reduce compliance burden, thereby improving ease of doing business.

FICCI has to become a feedback system to help the Centre do its job better.

Stressing on the need to raise quality standards in the country, the Minister urged FICCI to utilise its technical committees and appoint a representative from each industry to maintain standards.
