Biden suddenly arrived in Kiev before the completion of one year of the Ukraine war

Kiev | US President Joe Biden arrived in Kiev on Monday on a surprise visit, where he met with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. In a social media post, Zelensky shared a photo of the two leaders and said Biden’s visit was an extremely important sign of support for all Ukrainians.

According to the BBC report, Biden went to meet the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda. After this he suddenly reached Ukraine.

There was speculation earlier on Monday that an important guest had arrived in the Ukrainian capital, which Ukrainian politician Lesia Vasilenko later confirmed was Biden.

President Joe Biden announced half a billion dollars in additional aid to Ukraine during a surprise visit on Monday.

In joint remarks with Zelensky, Biden announced half a billion dollars in aid to the war-torn nation.

He said the package would include more military equipment, including artillery ammunition, more javelins and howitzers.

Zelensky said he and Biden talked about long-range weapons and weapons that could still be supplied to Ukraine.

Biden spoke about the resilience of the Ukrainian resistance as the war enters its second year.

Biden said, one year later, Kiev stands, Ukraine stands and democracy stands.

Apart from Zelensky, the US President also met First Lady Olena Jacinska at the Presidential Palace in Kiev.

Zelensky traveled to Washington in December 2022 to meet Biden in the Oval Office and speak at a joint session of Congress, his first trip outside Ukraine since the war began.
