BJP will blame AAP for not fulfilling its guarantee in Delhi: Atishi

New Delhi, Feb 14 Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi has said that during the Delhi elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party had made several promises to the people of Delhi, the main one being to give financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month to every woman in Delhi. This promise was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his guarantee.

She said that the BJP had also claimed that as soon as their government is formed, this proposal will be approved in the first cabinet meeting and the first installment of Rs 2,500 will be sent to the account of every woman in Delhi by March 8. She said that but now information has come to light from some sources inside the Bharatiya Janata Party that the party has no intention of fulfilling these promises. BJP MLAs are fighting among themselves over who will become the minister of which department, and they are planning to make an excuse that the Delhi government does not have money, and the blame for this will be put on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Atishi said that the BJP will allege that the AAP government has put Delhi in a financial crisis, and due to this the BJP will not be able to fulfill its promises. Regarding this, Atishi has said that the Delhi government has emphasized on financial condition and development works in the last 10 years. In 2014-15, when there was President’s rule in Delhi, the total budget of Delhi was 31,000 crores. But after the Aam Aadmi Party government came, Delhi’s budget reached 77,000 crores in 10 years, that is, there was an increase of 46,000 crores in ten years. This shows that the Aam Aadmi Party government contributed a lot in improving the economic condition of Delhi.

He said that Delhi’s debt has also reduced, the debt GDP ratio was 6.6 percent in 2014, which came down to 3 percent in 2023. Apart from this, Delhi is the only revenue surplus state in the country, the credit for which also goes to the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Atishi has challenged the BJP to fulfill its promises, especially the promise of giving Rs 2500 to every woman in Delhi, which should first be passed in the cabinet meeting and sent to their bank accounts by March 8. She has said that it is clear that the Delhi government has strengthened its financial position, and now it has to be seen whether the Bharatiya Janata Party is able to fulfill these promises or not. Delhiites hope that the BJP will fulfill its promises and play its role in the development of Delhi.

Atishi said that being the outgoing Chief Minister, I want to put before the people of Delhi the economic growth that AAP has achieved in Delhi in the last 10 years, so that the Bharatiya Janata Party cannot make any excuse in the coming time and fulfills the promises made to the people of Delhi.

She said that we also repaid the debt we had inherited from the previous governments and brought it down to 3 percent. The debt to GDP ratio in Uttar Pradesh is 32.5 percent. Madhya Pradesh has 33 percent. Atishi said that their intention is not to work but to loot. Therefore, the financial condition of the Delhi government, which we are handing over to the BJP, the way the Aam Aadmi Party has increased the budget of Delhi by two and a half times in 10 years, it is very clear that Delhi is a revenue surplus state and we hope that the Bharatiya Janata Party will fulfill its promises.
