New Delhi, February 1 . The general budget for the financial year 2025-26 has been presented on Saturday. Giving his first reaction on this budget, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called it the budget of the common people. He said that I congratulate Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her team for this budget of the people.
PM Modi said, “Today is an important milestone in India’s development journey. This is the budget of the aspirations of 140 crore Indians, this is a budget that fulfills the dreams of every Indian. We have opened many sectors for the youth. The common citizen is going to drive the mission of developed India. This budget will increase savings, increase investment, increase consumption and also increase growth rapidly. I congratulate Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her team for this budget of the people.” He said, “Generally the focus of the budget is on how to fill the government’s treasury, but this budget is exactly the opposite of that. This budget lays a very strong foundation for how the pockets of the citizens of the country will be filled, how their savings will increase and how they will become partners in development. Important steps have been taken in the direction of reform in this budget.”
Prime Minister Modi described the decision to promote the private sector in nuclear energy as a historic step. He said, “The decision to promote the private sector in nuclear energy is very historic. This will ensure a major contribution of civil nuclear energy to the development of the country in the coming times. All sectors of employment have been given priority in every way in the budget.”
PM Modi said that I consider two things very important. Due to giving infrastructure status, the construction of big ships in India will be encouraged, the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan will get momentum. This is the sector with the highest employment. There are a lot of possibilities for tourism. We will build hotels at 50 important tourist destinations, for the first time, we will bring them under the ambit of infrastructure and have given a lot of emphasis on tourism. The hospitality sector is a huge area of employment.
PM Modi said, “Today the country is moving ahead with the mantra of development as well as heritage. In this budget too, very concrete steps have been taken for this. Gyan Bharatam Mission has been launched for the preservation of one crore manuscripts. Also, a national repository inspired by the Indian knowledge tradition will be created. The work of squeezing nectar from traditional knowledge will be done.”
PM Modi also mentioned the announcements made for the farmers. He said, “The announcements made for the farmers will become the basis of a new revolution in the agriculture sector and the entire rural economy. Under the ‘PM Dhandhanya Krishi Yojana’, irrigation and infrastructure will be developed in 100 districts. Also, the limit of Kisan Credit Card being up to 5 lakh will help them.”
On the announcement made regarding tax, the Prime Minister said, “In this budget, income up to Rs 12 lakh has been exempted from tax. Tax has also been reduced for people of all income groups. This will greatly benefit the middle class and working people. Similarly, exemption from income tax will become an opportunity for those who have entered new professions.”
He said, “There is a 360 degree focus on manufacturing in this budget. So that entrepreneurs, MSMEs, small entrepreneurs get strengthened and new jobs are created. Special support has been given to sectors like National Manufacturing Mission, Clean Tech, Leather, Footwear, Toy Industry. Indian products can shine in the global market. Attention has been given in the budget to create a vibrant competitive environment for investment in the states.”
Prime Minister Modi said, “Credit guarantee for MSMEs and startups has been doubled. A loan scheme of Rs 2 crore has been introduced for SC-ST and women entrepreneurs of the country. In this budget, keeping in mind the new age economy, attention has been paid to gig workers. For the first time, they will be registered on the e-shram portal. After this, they will get the benefit of health care and social policies. Which shows the commitment of the government.”
The PM said, “From regulatory reforms to financial reforms, steps like Jan Vishwas 2.0 will further strengthen our commitment to minimum government and trust based governance. This budget not only takes into account the current needs of the country, but also helps us prepare for the future. Deep Tech Fund for Startups, Geospatial Mission and Nuclear Energy Mission are such important steps. I congratulate the countrymen on this historic People’s Budget.”
